The season is over, it's the summer and if you don't fish much , what do you do to keep busy?
>Hunting is my life's main activity and the off season can bring me down if I don't plan and implament my food plots and check my stands, make new trails, set up new stands in locations where trees are large enough to oput one in an area which I could not have before. I alsowill cut poison ivy off trees that I know I may hunt in the future.

I think you need to fish more in the offseason Dave. Boy that Poison Ivy is awfull stuff, it is all over the river banks here in Colorado. And when it turns that red-orange color watch out! Capt Kylos

Ya I here ya, last weekend I was finishing up the round up touches to my food plots and then hit the persimmon trees where the ivy was taking over and chocking them out. I hope it kills it. I like doing the little things that help make the lease more enjoyable to hunt. I'm telling yopu. If you ever want a great hunt on White tail . I'm in the highest desencesalated area in the country for them. With 250 to 350 per sq. mile if a hunt that will not soon be forgotten.
> I told a few guys on a hunting fourm that I had over 280 kills a few years ago and they said I was full of CHit , well I invited them up from S.C. for a hunt and whoo is now a good friend came out of the woods the 2nd day and said: This is unbelievable, I have seen 52 different bucks in 2 days. ! He was very astonished to say the lesat. LOL

Dang, I want to live at your house!
:)
For off season I busy myself preparing for the next season. Practicing calling for ducks and geese. I repair and repaint dekes. Also do a lot of sporting clays to keep smooth. Then there is inevitable hunt for affordable shells and new deke, waders and gear. Plus I haunt another board for duck hunting.
To help the sport I donate time/illustrations to a childrens wildlife mag and then help out with a fundraiser for CWA (california waterfowl association). Likely will be joining Delta this year and am also a member of DU.
I hope to do a little fishing this summer but it looks like it may be much less than I thought I would - considering the amount of time that I'm spending on the duck stuff.
Having fun though.
