New to the forums. I just started taking Vyvanse yesterday, 60mg per day for ADD and BED.

So far, I've been getting a feeling of euphoria around 30 mins to an hour after taking the pill. It lasts for around 6-8 hours, then I seem to get a feeling of mild depression as the euphoria begins to slowly taper off.

I also take Celexa 40mg for depression/anxiety; have taken it for 2 years. I was wondering, is this normal for someone just starting out on Vyvanse? Could the dosage be too high?

I haven't had many other side effects so far, other than having to take benadryl to help me sleep and a few heart palpitations. No dry mouth or major anxiety so far, but I don't think this kind of euphoria is normal for the right dose.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular side effect?

Vyvanse usually takes some weeks to get the metabolizm used to it and
to make it working perfect because enzyme P450 CYP2D6 can be confused.

Most people start with 30mg

As I understand my interaction tables both meds are in competition about
enzyme P450 CYP2D6 while Celexa should be a Citalopram product.

You should call your doc and ask for mighty interactions of your cocktail.
If a SSRI does not do its job and you get some weak and mood-lifting
amphetamine like Vyvanse prescribed, in my hopeful opinion it is time
to give up and ban the SSRI.

Did celexa gain your weight and make an erectile dysfunction?

No erectile dysfunction with Celexa, and I actually lost some weight early-on.

Does the 6-8 hours you feel good give you enough coverage for the day?

Christmas holidays are the worst time to call a doc, so please read the link
above before rading on. I am no doc and this is no advice according to my
infos about P450 but you could discuss it with your doc:

At which time do you take Celexa? Do you take it in the morning or evening?
If you take Celexa and Vyvanse in the morning it could be worth a try to take
Celexa in the evening and Vyvanse in the morning to prevent Celexa having
effects on Vyvanses half-life. Mind this is not a general solution for the 2D6-
interactions problem.

Methylphenidat like Ritalin is know to work with SSRI. You and your doc need
to make a decision. Either going on with amphetamine and stopping SSRI or
stopping amphetamine and switching to methylphenidate like Ritalin or simply
change the anti-depressant.

Reading you are on your 3rd amphetamine day you better have a break until
you can speak to you doc.

... but he did not mention Wellbutrin works with amphetamines.

I've been taking them at the same time, when I first wake up.

I'm on day 7 now and the euphoria effect has faded pretty significantly, as has the mild depression. I assume this is due to my body getting used to the vyvanse as the euphoria seemed to fade pretty quickly after the first three days.

I have heard/read some things that make me worry about taking both of these meds together, so I'm going to call my doctor today and bring up my concerns. So far, I haven't noticed any major negative effects, but I want to be sure he's aware of the interactions as well.

Hello. New to the forums as well. I just got diagnosed and started on Vyvanse a week ago. I've been on Zoloft and Lamictal for about a year. The severity of my ADHD leads me to believe a lot of my anxiety and depression came from not being able to focus then deep depression after missing deadlines and oppprtunties that went by. I hope to be able to drop off the other meds at some point.

The Vyvanse was amazing the first day and felt like putting glasses on my brain that was seeing blurry for so long. The timing of the effects and trying to figure out dosages seems daunting but I'm sure excited about possibly becoming normal. Glad to have a forum of other special people!
