View Full Version : Good Ole ADHD Procrastination & the Unkown makes for nasty situation
For month I have been metioning that Mom and I can not afford to keep up the house, we were giving it up anyway, but some credit union lawyers were going to seize the house. We knew it was coming but didn't know when they would get the paper work in order.
Mom and I tried to save money and we did look in news papers and here and there hoping to find a place. I think Mom is still trying to hold on to our house...a house she has lived in for over 30 years...but she wanted to wait until we got the papers served before we would move out....It was originally planned that we would live with my sister but she had to eventually find a place of her own too....So Mom and I were own our own again. My sister(Non ADD) contantly told us to keep looking and how we needed to save money...Blah Blah Blah.....Like Mom never moved anywhere before in her life  ...I think Sis likes to think she is know it all but anywho...I know she was right.
So now here we are, months later, and low and behold we finally got the papers two days ago..and house will be up for aution in July and we have until July 20th (a Month and 20 days from now :faint: )....July is also the month that my disablity evaluation is coming up and my gut tells me after that hearing I have the feeling it's not going to last. Food Stamp Office..because of my monthly check...cut my benifits to just 10 bucks a month to make this a little more fun ..
...We may have some hopeful ideas where to live but still everything is so uncertain and with my monthly checks and Moms job....we had enough to get by with bills and my medication and things we needed but not really able to save...
Never being able to save $$, not finding a decent place to live, mom not wanting to leave right away...nd now I feel like we are in a huge bind...If we could not save much money in a month...Rent alone is going to cost a lot and the moving itself is going to cost....I keep thinking of the small things I should not have spent money on...the times I spent on the computer...would it have killed me to get my butt off of my website, or other sites I frequently go to and look there for possiblities of a house...I dunno maybe after so long of not hearing anything from the lawyers I got started getting comfortable again with the idea of still living here.
I know I gotta have faith and Irish, Cherokee, and Scots of survivors and fighters and mom is a rock and heh so am I....I trying to keep a positive attitude about it....altough it seems grim...Oiy I need a mirtical!!!!!!
Gourmet 06-02-05, 12:48 AM Hey Draga, wishing you and your mom the best.
Be happy that you have each other because there is strength in numbers.
Hopefully you can get a little relief from just finally knowing about your house situation. Anticipating when the "**** is going to hit" is unnerving. You have that much out of the way.
Don't be afraid to let today be today and tomorrow tomorrow. Stop beating yourself up and know that you are moving forward....stop beating yourself up!
You are working your way toward your 'mirtical" and I have faith that you will find it.
Chin up. :)

Draga:
I was kinda wondering why I was not seeing much from you in terms of posts....
Just focus on finding a place to live. This is your top priority (like you didn't know already)
You also need to get ready to move your stuff....
Start packing stuff you don't use a lot now. It will help you get ready and will burn off some of the anxiety. :)
You need boxes..
If you can find some place that uses a lot of computer paper, those carboard boxes that computer paper come in are about right sized for hauling books and small stuff.
you will need lots of them. Find the right place and you can get all you want for free.
You will need some bigger boxes too.
Some grocery stores toss some pretty nice boxes out, behind the store.. you might be able to scavenge some there.
Once you have your stuff packed, you need to find help moving stuff.
Find a friend who has a truck and can help you haul your things.
While you are at it find a few people who are willing to help you carry stuff to and from the truck.
With a little help from friends it can be done on the cheap and without too much pain.
(I hate moving too)
I'll say a prayer for you. I know it has to work out for you.
Me :D

This is one thing I am proud to say we did not procrastinate on....we already packed the china and clothes for winter and kitchen stuff we dont need and sheets...anything we can think of and starting to throw stuff out that we dont need...Mom works @ a Truck Stop that has a Casino & Bar .....Boxes are covered don't ya think:p
Funny Story......There is an old computer desk that was on it's last legs and collecting dust and  even found a wasp nest in there...Oh yeah it had to go..Mom asked that take it apart(was unfixable) using screw drive.....HA HA MOM....that would have taken way too long! so I grabbed a trusty ole hammer(heavy sucker) and took an hours worth of work and made it a ten minute(tops) job busting desk up peice by peice with the hammer..believe me IT WAS FUN!!!! GOOOOOOOD aggresion release!

Ichpuchtli 06-02-05, 03:09 AM poor you, I have a great saying for procrastern8ers which is:
Old Saying: Why do nothing you you can do something?
Pro8er One: Why do something when you can do nothing?
LOL reminds me of the Grasshopper and The Ant story but can we talk about that later :p

Yes, I agree there is strength in numbers and I am thankful that she is my mom and I'll ne'er take her for granted again like I did a long time ago. Mom Is a rock..I swear. If she is worried the same as me..you'd never know it....she just takes it day by day....she's inspiring to me. I hope when I have kids someday I am as good a mom as she has been to me. People come and go, but family is forever :) ......Thanks, Hun.

:) TY, Hon....I appreciate it xoxoxoxoxo
I'm so glad to hear that you are on top of things and not letting events drive you. I was kind of worried about you. I'm glad to see your humor is holding up!
I most certainly have missed you. :) I hope you can get moved and things will be back to normal for you soon so I can enjoy your wonderful words even more!
It is good that you are packed and ready to go. Yo uare going to be finding a place soon. I can also see how killing an old piece of furniture could bring great satisfaction. I once taught a computer to fly (third floor window  ), but that is another story.
*BIG HUGS TO YOU* :p
