I am into the second week of beginning wellbutrin. The medication is working well as far as my depression and general concentration/focus. The problem I am having now is a bad -- and I mean BAD taste in my mouth. I don't have bad breath. I brush my teeth continuously but the taste doesn't go away. I chew gum and that helps sometimes. The taste is so bad I feel nauseated from it. Please tell me this will go away!

FWIW this bad taste has gotten better. I thought would post that in case anyone else has this happen to them.

FWIW I think this taste comes from the coating on the pill. It tastes like a pill tase if that makes any sense. Its really bad and comes from the back of my throat. Yuck! I take SR so I wonder what its coated with. Is the coating the same on the different types (XL, SR) of pills!

Have your tried re-coating the pill? Koda hates the taste of coated meds so he rolls them in jelly or pudding and then drops them to the back of his throat and quickly gets rid of it. Worth a try, I mean what could it hurt?

I could give that a try...but the bad taste stays with me all day. I can brush my teeth, eat etc. and its still there and it feels like it comes from the back of my throat.

I wonder if a bad taste can come from your stomach as bad breath often does. If so I wonder if taking an acid reducer with your med such as Tums, etc would help some too or would that inhibit the med. So many questions so few answers, we need answers and obviously we want them right now lmbo.

So, after making my smarty pants post I started also getting this bad taste in my mouth. It's not from the pill it comes hours later or is just there all the time now. I don't think it's coming from the stomach juices.....since I've had to take a TON of tums the last couple of days from eating too spicy foods.

hmm I wish I could help you gals I know how awful it is to have a bad taste in your mouth especially that taste you get from sulfa drugs EEEK. You do drink enough fluids right I mean when on a sulfa med you should drink 4-5 8oz glasses of water maybe this med requires you to be really hydrated to break down properly. Anyways obviously I'm just pulling ideas out of my behind now but what is more water in your diet gonna hurt except your growing number of bathroom breaks lol

The bad taste is with me from a few minutes (15-30 min) from taking my morning dose until I go to bed. I don't smoke. The taste doesn't taste like stomach acid-- I think trying to describe this may just make me sick :p but tums wouldn't hurt either. I didn't think of that because I don't get that burning sensation you get from reflux.

The bad taste is going away though. I hardly had it today-- thankfully! I appreciate all of you sympathizing with me!

Futs-- I think the water idea is good too. It doesn't ever hurt to drink more water-- especially now that we are getting hot weather.

I've noticed this problem too, but it's usually when I forget a dose. I have this awful metallic taste that just won't go away. bleh!
