View Full Version : Summarize the manufacture changes

I'm sorry to keep harping on this but I have a difficult time reading through all the threads/posts on this matter.
Can someone summarize the changes/updates regarding the manufacturers/manufacturing of Adderall? And will this mean limited availability aka a shortage of the medication at some point because of the changes?

Nobody here can really know for sure exactly what effects the changes will have. Some people know important facts like which companies are involved and what kinds of deals have been made, but that doesn't translate into knowing what will be available at your particular pharmacy next year.

If you try to "get it pinned down" now, you're very likely to be confused and disappointed later. Wait and see.

There is always limited availability of the medication in the United States because of FDA-imposed quotas on manufacturing and precursor chemicals.

This results in high prices, but does not necessarily cause shortages in the controlled-market—though at times shortages have occurred because of the confluence of other situations (manufacturing, distribution, etc.) happening at the same time.

In the case of Adderall, people aren’t likely to experience shortages when only a couple of manufacturers involved, because a number of pharmaceutical companies participate in the production Adderall, which tends to buffer short-term lack of availability from any of the usual sources.
