hi all
im muddling through this, technical i am not.

i am a 47 year old single mother of a 15 year old boy with adhd. i probably have add as well, but with the bipolar, the ptsd, and other stuff it just got passed up.

i am frustrated trying to know how to help my son and at the same time maintain my (tenuous) sanity. when i am not in control (ha!) i enjoy writing, potting (the clay not the herb) and chatting.

i spent a couple decades working in finance on the floor of the chicago mercantile exchange and also in accounting as an a/p manager. i was a star working on the exchange floor (unmedicated). go figure. i am currently not working.

i am amazed at the information available on adhd through chat rooms, websites, and now this. and im looking forward to learning and laughing so i don't cry.

hugs
ruth

Hugs Ruth, its so great to see you on the forums. You look like a regular technical pro at this!

Many people with ADD have excelled in situations or jobs that are highly stressful, dangerous or in your case, action packed.

If ever there was a place to ask question, Ruth...this is it!! Again, welcome :)

Welcome Ruth! Glad to have you here...
I think some of us ADD'rs thrive in hectic situations where our attention is maxed out in chaos of sorts.. :)
To be honest.. I used to be involved in some criminal activity.. (years back) In the midst of many "jobs", I felt most calm, though my senses were at the peak of "awareness".. It was like my "radar" was fully on and operational.. There was little distracting me because I was tuned in and focused, though on a number of things. Though my ADD may have had a lot to do with me getting bored with "normal" everyday things, it probably also saved my butt on many different occasions with a heightened awareness above that of most of my running buddies at that time.
Any way, welcome to the community!
David
