How y'all doin. I'm coming up on 31 and was diagnosed with ADD a couple months before my 29th birthday. It's a long story that I won't draw out, but I did the formal pshychiatry thing and took 6 tests and whatnot, and it made sense.

Move forward: I've been on 10mg of Adderall instant release 2x daily ever since. It has always helped the concentration, but there have been some tolerance issues. I don't take it on weekends so that may have helped.

However, my blood pressure and heart rate have always been elevated on Adderall, and I hate it. Have to take blood pressure meds. My current Doc is nervous about Adderall and would like to see me off of it. After reading, I suggested trying Wellbutrin and seeing if I could taper off the Adderall.

What's wierd, and the bottom line of my question - it seems to me that the Wellbutrin (150mg XR) blocks the effect of the Adderall in me. My heart doesn't race, blood pressure is great, but focus is GONE and back to my old tricks. Kind of a shock to go back there after over a year. So if I take 40mg of Adderall I get about the same effect as 20 before...but I know my doc won't go for that.

Oh - I should also mention that based on some reading I did here I switched from generic to name-brand Adderall, but didn't notice a big difference.

Based on anyone's experience I'd like to know:

1) Has anyone else taken Wellbutrin and seen it decrease effectiveness of stim meds?

2) Anyone think Adderall is the problem and I should just take the Wellbutrin?

3) Should I find a new doctor, stay on the Wellbutrin, get upped on the Adderall Rx and be happy to have found something that works all around?

4) Other options, opinions, whatnot?
