View Full Version : Interviews just to practice??

I went to a job fair last week and received a call from one of the employers. I am assuming they want to interview me but I know that I'm not to take the job because

a.) They most likely won't pay even as much as I make now as they are a non-profit.

b.) The daily commute would be over an hour each way.

How do you all feel about going on interviews just to practice your interviewing skills even though you know that you aren't going to take the job if offered?

I have mixed feelings as I don't want to waste someone's time but being used to interviewing when the right job comes along is important!

Go. I understand why this job is highly unlikely for you, but still it's worth going, not only for practice reasons but also exploring what's available etc.

It's not unethical - many HR ppl advise to train this way.

And your goal is to train to be a better emplyer, not to go and have fun and a free coffee at the company's expense.

It's like a date - does not have to end in a relationship :)
