Compliments and ADD'ers :)

Would you rather give one or receive one?

Are you better at giving them or receiving them?

What do you say/do upon receiving one?

What do you say/do when you give one?

Would you rather GIVE one to your mate or RECEIVE one from him/her?

What the was the last BEST compliment you received and by whom?

Do tell all:)

Would you rather give one or receive one? GIVE

Are you better at giving them or receiving them? GIVING. I get very uncomfortable when receiving compliments.

What do you say/do upon receiving one? I never know what to say.

What do you say/do when you give one? I try to say things that are sincere, and sometimes use compliments that others have given to me as examples to draw upon. I know that sounds bizarre.

Would you rather GIVE one to your mate or RECEIVE one from him/her? What's behind door #3? I guess receive.

What the was the last BEST compliment you received and by whom? When my daughter turns to me and says "You're the best Daddy in the whole wide world. I love you."

Dr. Amen talks on this too, and it all rings true to me... that ADDers tend to crave compliments but not believe them when they get them.

I try to give a lot of compliments. And I truly love getting a sincere one.

I love giving compliments. I heard that a person needs to hear 10 compliments to erase one slam. So I figure to do what I can to help others... however I am terrible about accepting compliments. Oh don't get me wrong, I get one and I say "Oh thank you." but deep inside I don't believe them.. I want to, I really do but something inside in a small voice questions it. Yet I don't expect others to question what I say... kinda a mixed up isn't it.

Took me a long time to respond to this post Joan as I hadn't relized when I made the post as to how much it would affect you

I am so happy that you were able to accept my words as a compliment as I have to be truthfull I never even realized when I wrote the post that It would come out the way it did and you would enjoy hearing it so much

I was just responding and speaking the truth as I feel it regarding the way you put words together so nicely and how warm and fuzzy I feel every time I read your welcome message to a newbee.

It is just like when I first came here and I got the same message

Sorry it took me so long to respond but I was at a loss for words which is really rare for me ( Grin)

The enjoyment you got from my post and the warm and fuzzy feeling you passed back to me with commenting on it has hung with me for a long time

Thank You Joan for about 2 weeks of fuzzy feelings everytime I thought about your post

And keep up the good work Welcoming the newbees

Garry

Thanks Garry....for the kind words....and the nice message....:)

It is true....I LOVE COMPLIMENTS.....maybe more than the average person....perhaps I have trouble validating myself so I need to get it from others?? Who knows......

Since you bring this up often....the issue about putting words together nicely....I must say Garry I was blessed with some wonderful grammar schools, etc. a long long time ago....in a nice suburb of Massachusetts....the teachers there REALLY taught us how to write.....how to put words together, make them "sound good", etc....I was just blessed with good schools....

Now for the reading aspect....they didn't do so good:(

Anyway thanks....hope you're having a nice day:)

Well maybe not....but I thing everybody -- including yourself --took what they got in grammar school and did whatever they could with it....whatever that is/was:D........what choice did we have????

You played marbles in the principal's office...and while I was flunking reading and social studies....I did learn how to write:) Who knows why???

How do surveys score and count complex answers to simple questions?

Well, would you say that not giving compliments is something that happens in a person with ADHD? My man has ADHD and although he's a wonderful man, he never gives compliments. And when I give him compliments he just looks down, doesn't smile, and just acts as if I hadn't said anything. I don't know if he doesn't like compliments, but I'm going to keep complimenting and encouraging him for all his achievements no matter how small.

Please let me know what you're answer is regarding my first sentence. Thank you.
