I can't imagine anyone does, but does anyone count cards? I've been interested in it and have been watching videos, but it's a struggle bc the name of that game is concentration and quick processing, yet I'm still intrigued.

My thinking is most ADHDers will end up with two-of-a-kind called broken kneecaps. ;)

I can count cards. As long as there are no more than three of them, total. :)

The best strategy anyone can adopt for winning at gambling is to check out what I decided was the best choice and do the exact opposite. Say groups of people who pool their money to increase their chances at winning the lottery start looking for more individuals to toss in a dollar on a huge pot. Out of my desire to keep a clear conscious, and because I like to sleep at night, I warn them what any bet I make with them will do to their odds. For example, if I could purchase every single combination, assuring I'd select the winning number, no doubt that particular day 17, 654, 887, 092 other folks will impulsively use the same brilliant idea!

I'm pretty bad a counting anything. I keep forgetting where I am. I actually had to count cards a few days ago to check if we and a full pack and it was embarrassingly hard. I'm like the giant who isn't able to count all the carrots in a field and has to keep starting again and again for all eternity

Today, i set out to comment on the state of the world, which requires some gory descriptions to make my point. Heeding Namazu's suggestions (threats! just kidding Nam) I reviewed the forbidden topics and realized I didn't have much I could say. Just then, "counting cards" caught my attention and ever since the world looks rather harmless once again.

I like the idea of it in a good movie, but the people actually that are associated with it not so much.

Unless I was paid very, very well and could walk away. Nah, not even then. Cheating would not be a good job for me. My face gives everything away.

I would be an easy mark. Not good.

And if I was real good at card counting I would never be able to look at myself in the mirror again.

Now I really want to read the post you would have made.

I can't count cards, there's too many cards in the pack :o if I have to check all the cards are there I put the suits in order in the following order: hearts first in order, then spades, then clubs, then diamonds :o

Oh, we are. Card counting is how people cheat at gambling. Until you are caught by the card counters watching you count cards.

Oh is it the name of a game? I missed that. I did wonder why people took videos of themselves counting stuff...:doh:

(Or is that what they do??)

Confused...

Well card counting isn't cheating, it's using your brain to play a game to your best advantage. It's not against the rules, it's just casinos know it tips the game in your favor so they will prevent people from playing. They'll even let you stay in the casino and play any other game if they spot you doing it.

Card counting is used in the game Blackjack. When you are good at it, it slightly tips the odds of you winning in your advantage over the casino. The idea is, cards 2-6 are worth +1, 7,8,9 are worth 0, and 10-A are worth-1. You keep a running count in your head as the game is being played, and the strategy is, if/when the total starts to get high in the positive numbers, there's more high cards in the deck than low, and you raise your bet according to how high the count is getting. There's no guarantee you'll win, nor is it illegal, bc all you're doing is using your brain to play the game.

I have always been good at that game memory where you have to make matches with the cards that are turned over. If the cards were laid out on a pattern I might be able to remember them but playing cards have 4 of every kind in different colors and shapes so I get too visually overwhelmed.

I didnt know what "card counting" was either;
hahaha goodness I never even know if it's my turn in a card game, I certainly couldnt count the cards!

I'm fine with fast paced things like Uno, and cribbage (it's very specific and the round to 21 goes fast); but i would really struggle with remembering what cards were played in a long series
