View Full Version : Trouble getting "right dose" after moving

I lived in Albuquerque for a short time where I started taking AMP for the first time. I had a liberal shrink (who also has ADHD) who prescribed 70mg Vyvanse and a booster of 30mg Adderall as needed. I moved - after a slow start back in my hometown of Texas, I'm finally with a doc who is an ADHD specialist, who has me on 60mg Adderall. My mental health network is ABYSSMAL so I see him out of network. Anyone have a hard time getting the right dose prescribed? It really seemed sometimes as if I was asking for illegal firearms and an underaged prostitute and really got extremely frustrating. I do understand, however, that I had a "liberal" doc previously, and that this made things more complicated, including the dose may well have been superfluous.

BTW, Albuquerque really is like "Breaking Bad" ;>)

Is the 60 mg not working for you?

60mg of Adderall is an increase in medication over 70mg Vyvanse + 30mg Adderall.

Perhaps the dose is too high, or the timing of its effectiveness is not working for the OP.

Cheers,
Ian

Thanks for the replies. The main point of the post was to gauge other's experiences with getting at least a moderately unconventional dose as it was needed, or if they had trouble getting to the (relatively high) therapeutic dose. I'm fairly "new to ADHD" so my experience is a bit limited.

"60mg of Adderall is an increase in medication over 70mg Vyvanse + 30mg Adderall." As I recall, on paper it appears this way, but after my new shrink advising this regimen was "too high" and asking my former doc the Adderall equivalent to a 70mg vyvanse, he said something like "63mg". Not sure how the chemistry works out with the extended release beyond what the "calculators" tell me. But what DOES inform me is my personal experience. Though it's been a while since I took the 2 med combo, it seems mono Adderall is more effective. The Vyvanse always wore off fast.

I like the 60mg dose so far.

I think the 70mg Vyvanse capsule is something like 33.3 (maybe) mg of dextroamp technically. Still different.
