I have heard of the book, but know nothing about it. If your doctor suggested it, then I would give it a shot. I have talked to a psychologist on line that I was not able to get an appointment with and over the phone he suggested "The OCD Workbook"

For my continuing education credits I read a book I really liked called Tourmenting Thoughts and Secret Rituals: The Hidden Epidemic of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder by Ian Osborn, MD. I really liked this book -- it gave me an understanding the the origins, expression of, and treatment prognosis and methods for OCD that far surpassed anything I learned in my Masters level counseling program. I also found it quite readable with stories to illustrate the point. It's put out by Dell Pub -- probably be able to find it on Amazon.com -- I haven't seen in commonly in Borders.

I just read (well, it took 6 months) Understanding and Treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Cognitive-Behavioral Approach.
It is a new (2005) book by Abramowitz of the Mayo Clinic.
It is very insightful.
Medications don't help me very much.
