This is a follow up on my other thread here. Is there any medication out there for ADD that has nothing in comman with Ritalin or Concerrta? because those both kinda ruined my socail life therefor ruining my life. :o :o .
Ritalin, Concerta are both methylphenidate, Adderall and dex. are both based on amphetamine and/or dextroamphetamine, and all of them are stimulants.
Strattera is a newer medication that isn't a stimulant, and there are the anti-depressants that some used to treat ADD.
I guess the question is, what kind of "nothing in common" are you referring too? If not a stimulant is the question, then the anti-depressants or Strattera might be an answer.

How are the meds ruining your social life?

I just started on Concerta 2 weeks ago, I hate it. It hasn't done much for my focus, I get dizzy in the evening, sweat a lot, and I even think it makes my overfocused ADD worse, I can't stop focusing and replaying stupid thoughts through my head. I should be out partying with my friends right now, but for some reason on Concerta I just want to stay inside and relax. I also feel more depressed on this med, I am going to see my doc on Thursday, definitely switching to something else. Adderall perhaps?
I'm finding Adderall to be an amazing antidepressant. In fact, I think it's working better for me as an antidepressant than as a boost for concentration and focus. Adderall makes me much more cheerful and social. I'm surprised that Adderall isn't routinely used as an antidepressant. I guess it's the whole paranoia thing about stimulants.
