Hi I'm new to this site, and not sure if I'm posting this to the right section, but was just wondering if anyone else here had had any experience with this sort of thing: I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy at a very young age, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in my teens, and just very recently have been referred to a psychiatrist for ADD. Over the course of my life I've been prescribed all sorts of meds - tegretol for the epilepsy, which was fine, also anafranil and prozac for my OCD, which weren't fine - anafranil triggered seizures - and after that more recently two or three different types of anti-depressants (celexa being one) which all made me suicidal. My question is - is there any mediaction which successfully helps with all three of the above disorders? I know that these are things which will obviously be discussed with the psychiatrist, but I've had so much bad luck with medication in the past I just want to try and find out beforehand whether anyone else has had similar experiences, or any knowledge on the subject.

I would seek out a psychopharmacologist, if such a thing exists in the UK and/or a neurologist, as the Epilepsy complicates things. Basically a psychopharmacologist is a psychiatrist who specializes and has a lot of experience in the medicinal treatment of mental disorders. Most doctors don't have enough exposure to medication that is lesser used by the average person - never mind the possible intreactions and such when you combine things. And it sucks to be the person they get this experience with: "so that's what happens with you give drug A and drug B together, what an strange reaction, I'll have to try a lower dose next time"
