Hello all,
I'm new here. Been on dexamfetamine for approx two months. I'm going on holiday soon and would like to know if I'm "allowed" to have a cocktail or glass of wine at dinnertime. My meds leaflet says to limit or avoid alcohol completely but the 'limit' part is quite vague... and I'd like to know what happens in the real world.
Do you ever have a drink and if so, how does it affect you?

Have a cocktail or two and enjoy yourself.

Cheers,
Ian

Unless you plan on getting sloshed every night enjoy yourself. The only real risk is that if you were to get drunk while popping your medication, you might not realize how drunk you were.

Thanks. That's good to know.
It will be one or two drinks per evening maximum.

I'm not a doctor, so I can't give medical advice. As I understand it, the main thing is to not combine alcohol with any CNS depressants (benzos, barbituates, sedatives, etc) due to the potential additive/synergistic effect. Pretty much any medication will have a warning to avoid taking with alcohol. From a medical standpoint, alcohol is pretty much straight up biological toxin, so there's no legitimate medical purpose for alcohol. Personal purposes, of course, are a separate issue!
