Margreet 09-04-03, 07:37 PM Hi Dubhead, I've been taking Strattera for a couple months now, I think. Still experiencing dry mouth and constipation, but the upset stomach went away. Taking the pill with food may help. My doc says adults tend to have a harder time adjusting to this med unless they start out on a low dose and work their way up. The most intolerable side effect was, for me, intense irritability when the drug wears off in the evening. Like, irritability on steroids. That's been solved by taking my biggest dose in the morning, when I need it for work, and then a smaller dose in the evening, so I completely bypass the moody homicidal rages. :) Hang in there, Dub, it'll probably get better! Or back off on your dose and work your way up again. Slowly. Margreet. dubhead 09-05-03, 02:18 AM Thanks for the encouragement. It's been a rough couple of days. I haven't had any problems with anger but sleep has been a little choppy. Hopefully that'll go away too. tiggwin 09-07-03, 01:04 AM I've been taking Strattera for 5 weeks and MOST of the side-effects have gone away. However, the one you mentioned, "choppy sleep", is still a problem. i used to sleep straight through the night most nights, but I now wake up around 3:00 am and can't get back to sleep for a while EVERY night. interestingly, since we upped the dose to 75mg, the time has shifted to around 2:00 am. postrocker 10-26-03, 03:54 AM I am a 26 year old male and I have been on Strattera for just under a month now. The only side effect that I have really noticed is that I never eat anymore. My wife makes me eat or I wouldnt eat at all. Maybe I have some minor side effect like dry mouth but not enough to complain about. The "choppy" sleep effect I expeirenced last night, but I never sleep at night so I am guessing that is the cause of it. I am a 3rd shifter, so I work all night and sleep all day, and if any of you do this, you know sleep is always choppy during the day time. This med has totaly changed my thinking and focus on everything. I can do things now. I started a book on friday and read over half of it. I have not read a book since I was a little kid. Reading always sucked to me cause my mind was all over the place, but this has totaly changed that. I have just recentley been diagnosed as ADHD/ADD, so this whole concept of doing things is new to me. I take these little pills in the evening before I go to work, and everything goes better. I am taking 80mg per day now. started out at 40mg per day and moved to 80 after four days. The whole not eating thing, well I could loose some weight so im not complaining. I hope it doesn't get out of control though. tyler |
