We are thinking our 3.5 yr old son could be ADHD, My oldest daughter , 10 yrs old, is ADHD also. Alot of the same signs she had at his age are showing up with him, But he is different then she was also. I have been doing alot of reading on the different types of ADHD and think he could possibly be ADHD with out the attentivness, He is extremely hyperactive, very impulsive, but his attention span is alot better then my daughters was at this age. She couldnt stay in on one thing for over a minute while he can play for an hour with his cars or bugs (he has a bug box) She had to have my attention 100% of the time and wanted me to entertain her 24/7 (she still does! ) while he can play alone (as long as he is the only kid around, if any other kids are around he is bouncing off the walls) Of course being only 3, his level of attention to say something like school work cant be measured yet.
We are holding off till he turns 4 and gets into preschool this fall before we have him tested. I have talked to my Daughters Doctor about his behavior and he just tells me it normal Boy stuff and its because of all the testerone they have (he is very agressive and the more hyper he gets, the more aggressive he gets, till either he gets hurt or he hurts someone else) I am not sure what to think, I dont want to label him ADHD for just being a active Boy, But I dont want to go thru the heartache I did with my daughter waiting on getting her tested. and in the mean time, When all 3 of my kids are at home (I also have a 7 yr old stepdaughter that lives with us that thankfully is Non ADHD) It gets to be a war zone here and I am constantly on the alert to problems. The 10 yr old and the 3 yd old feed off each others hyperness and the only way I can calm everyone down to to keep them seperate, which I hate to do all the time, but its the only way I can keep peace in the house.
Sorry so long:)
