Hey everyone! Long time, no see! I need some advice since I haven't been on the scope in a while!

The last time I saw my psychiatrist was December 27, 2004. Many reasons why I haven't been back: I had a seizure in September 2004 while on meds (Wellbutrin was the culprit) and pretty much stopped meds except for Adderall. My parents (especially my mom) gave me lots of grief about getting help and seeing a psych.

Well now I'm out of Adderall and I'm about to go back to the psych for the first time in seven months... Anything special I should do or say since I haven't been back in a while?

Things have been rough on me and I'd like to go back on another anti-depressant along with Adderall (it was so helpful). Dont know if anyone else had neglected seeing their psych for a while is why I'm asking.

Any advice or anything would be helpful!!!!

Might wanta see if you could go on effexor, or zoloft. Good Luck

I'm gonna try that. I used to be on: Prozac, Wellbutrin, Adderall XR and IR, along with dexedrine, xanax (when needed).... One thing I hated about Prozac was the sexual side effects.

Now I just do the Adderall, however I am out now. Haven't been back in 7 months but I don't want him to think that I'm just "after the drugs" or whatever. I know that some people go see a psychiatrist to try to get drugs.

I dunno- maybe I'm paranoid.

I am a huge advocate of seeing a psych on a regular basis, not just for meds, but for chat. I think seeing a therapist is a great combination with meds, especially when depressed.
Adderall and Effexor combo worked great for me!

I'm not sure if I can take Effexor because of the seizure. I'm going to go back and talk to him though. My main thing was- my mother gave me SOOOO much grief about being "only 23 years old" and being "on all kinds of dope".


Is there anything special I should do or say? I don't want this doc to think I'm only using him for the meds or whatever. I don't know- I guess I feel weird going back after about 7 months of being away.


Anyone else ever gone a long amount of time not seeing their doc???
