MY doc prescribed me for Straterra about a week ago. She had me start on 40mg, which sounds kind of high. "take 40mg for 3 days, then take 80 after that."
I took 40mg for about 6 days, then started the 80mg last night. about 20 minutes after dosing, I felt very lethargic, sleepy, spacey, and drugged. I didnt want to be around anyone, just lay and stare. The next day, today, I feel relaxed, but still kind of "out there." Since taking Straterra my anxious thoughts have decreased greatly (i have major social anxiety/general anxiety) but I still have a baseline of some kind of depressive state.I'd hate to push on for a month to find out Straterra wasnt for me. But I guess with all meds it's trial and error.
We'll see how things go, I meet with my doc today and im interested in what she says. Prolly will say: "just keep on truckin'."

I don't understand why you doc prescribed you such a high dose. I think you should have tried 40 mg for 4-6 weeks before going to an higher dose (60 mg).

I agree with Jackinbox. My Dr. had me run 20mg for a few days and then ramp up to 40mg for two weeks to see how that worked. I was pleased with the 40mg dose and have been there for the last 6 months.

My Dr had me on 40mg for a week then up to 80mg. I didn't really notice much of a difference but as I am 215lb I think I need to be higher for it to be noticeable.

I just started Strattera this week. MY doc has me on the following schedule:

First week - 25mg for 7 days
Second week - 40 mg for 7 days
Third week - 40 mg for 7 days
Fourth week - 60 mg for 7 days

And I'll see where I go from there. I find it weird that you started on such a high dosage.

Started my doses yesterday. I'm quite a big guy and I'm on 60mg for the first week going to 150mg from there. Slept just about the whole day today with a MOTHER of a headache. Took the second one just now and I think it'll be a while before I sleep again... Any idea how long before I notice anything other than tiredness?

Forgot to actually say anything to you yesterday when i posted... sorry! If you're having a reaction to the stuff already regarding anxiety etc., then you're doing great - you're not even supposed to notice until at least 14 days after your first. So you're quite lucky. And as for the tiredness and feeling drugged, apparently that wears off after the first month or so. Good luck on it!
