I just realized something about myself...unless I was forced onto that island, as in some 'thing' sinking/crashing...therefore having no access to 'choice'...there is no way in hades, that I would be able to choose only three 'things' to take.

Your replies have reminded me of the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. A boy is in a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness and learns how to survive. A hatchet becomes his most precious possession.

A great book for teenage summer reading.

I was thinking there would be two possibilities with me on an island and my 3 "choices".

One of them would end in my death with a grin on my face.
The other would end in my death because the woman just couldn't stand being around me anymore.

I thought it sounded like an excellent challenge to stay alive and earn the rewards. :cool:

Hey FB !! I think that would be my only choice...just the grin on my face, if others were with me on that island..and baffled as to how I'm going to make it..
I don't think that far ahead..not in retrospect to survival tactics, that aren't already ingrained...such as 'island motif'....

I suppose I'm going to have to make the effort, to start keeping on my person...a hatchet..
I have no idea where I'm going to keep it though...My purse is bogged down enough with 'stuff'...

Ok, let's just assume (and you know what that means) that I'm alone and I've crashed there or something's sunk. Can't grab a person, I must have been travelling alone. So...

1) I'd grab an axe (which I assume would be on board, right next to the fire extinguisher)
1A) If I can't have an axe I'll take door #2, duck tape...I love duck tape. I'll find something to do with it in a jungle.
2) Matches, lots of them
3) And a water container.

don't know if that counts as more than three, but maybe since it's a mega CD player, a Mega CD with every song ever created on it...

yup, everything else me and Mickey would come up with so long as we had music to dance to, lol.

Unlimited clean water.

A satellite phone, with GPS (why row myself off when I can call for help and let someone else row)
Water purification tablets (to tide me over until my rescue shows up)

If I could bring any 3 things I wanted to a deserted island, I guess those 3 things would be:

1) A large luxury yatch so that I could leave the island after getting bored with it, which I assume would be only a few hours after arriving since it's deserted and all.

2) A large group of college sorority girls on their spring break.

3) Plenty of assorted foods, and beverages for me and my guest. ;)

3. A sign that says.."keep out"

Anything? Pssh. That makes it easy.

Oh my god.. I thought I would chime in on this fun post, then decided "nah, I'm going to bed" . Now 20 minutes later I find myself still sitting in my chair staring out the window actually thinking that "gee, of course I would bring the dog.. But will I be on this island forever? Should I bring a pair of dogs too so I will always have a dog? then that is two things and I had already thought solar panels and my laptop would be great for watching videos.. Cause I could always make fire and hunt for food and build a nice shelter over time.. But the one thing I couldn't really ever make would be a really comfy blanket so maybe that could be one thing..

But then it couldn't because my dog is definitely one thing and panels and computer make three things so then no more dogs to make more dogs.. So maybe just the dogs and no computer.. But, if I might be rescued after time then bringing the new dogs just to make more dogs would be pointless, and certainly if I had a computer I could increase my chances of rescue if I were to hit upon some signal somewhere...

Then all of a sudden I snapped out of it and realized I just spent yet another chunk of time seriously debating nonsense.. Thanks again guys! ;)

1) my camera

2) a good marine radio or satellite phone

3) a fully equipped boat

That way, I can call home and tell them where I am, spend a while taking pictures of the scenery, then go home whenever I want to!
