After taking Strattera (40mg) for roughly a month and a half, I decided to discontinue it a couple of days ago. My overall experience with the stuff was pretty much negative. I should also add that I take Paxil for both anxiety and depression, but more on that later. Anyway, immediately after taking the Strattera, I noted that I too easily became hot and seemed to retain water, though always sweating. I felt totally dehydrated despite my habit of drinking quite a bit of water. I work out 4 to 5 days a week, weight-training and running. I noticed that when doing any cardio, I would become obscenely hot; my face would become red as a beet with my head being the hottest part of my body. It took me quite a while to cool down, if at all. I did, however, feel that it was easier for me to concentrate, so I thought I would just try to put up with the overheating. I also had a few sexual side effects and a constant funny feeling under my groin, but it was nothing I couldn't live with. I assumed it would soon subside anyway, though it never did. Anyway, after taking the Strattera for about 2 weeks, I started feeling as though it was really screwing with my metabolism, as meals seemed to stay with me longer, and as I stated earlier, I was retaining a lot of water. Now this is where it seemed to start interfering with my Paxil. I started to notice that particular symptoms of my depression seemed to be returning, though ever so slightly. (I realize now that this could be due to the drugs interacting/interfering with each other, but because of all the changes to my metabolism, I still feel that I was just not able to metabolically process the Paxil, just like the food I didn't seem to be able to process.) Now whenever I suddenly go without the Paxil, I begin to get what is often referred to as "brain zaps" that feel like a mild sort of electrical shock in the brain when one suddenly turns his/her head. This, however, usually takes about 3 to 4 days to begin. But now after quitting the Strattera 2 days ago, and also being without Paxil for 2 days (the pharmacy won't have any until Monday), I'm getting monster brain zaps and had 2 mild anxiety attacks last night while sleeping. Again, it usually takes much longer for symptoms like this occur, so I'm wondering if I was ever getting the Paxil through my system, or a greatly diminished quantity of it or what. I don't know. Anyway, if any body has taken the time to read this long post and has any info you care to share, I would much appreciate it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
