I have a question about my daughter, she is only 2 years old but I'm a bit worried about a few things she is starting to do within the past few months.

I first noticed it at the grocery store, I was at the bank and she ran over to a brochure stand (had a plain black stand) and just stood there..I was like whatever and kept banking...then when I was done I asked her to follow me..she said "no mama, i hold you" I really didn't feel like holding her, so I took her hand and started to walk on the grocery store floor, she FLIPPED out!! She started to rock a bit and put her hands out flat saying "oh no oh no, hold me mama." I did but then the next time we went to the store she did it again (different store) and she did it again.............this time I realized she was afraid of the floor...so I got down on the floor with her and touched it telling her it was okay and there were no bugs...(I thought that was it) No, she's seriously afraid of cracks in the floor, or anything with a lot of "spots, specs", she doesn't even like walking on my sisters floor cause it's wood, and really can't walk on their porch without wanting to be held or taking like ten minutes to get acrossed it... it's a super small porch to!!!

I try to not make it a big deal so she won't freak out more...but i'm a bit worried about this behavior and I don't know how to help her I guess. I mean she's only two years old..she does like to tip-toe on anything thats not carpet..which i think is just cause it's cold, she's really smart and advanced for her age...she's super hyper but I think thats just cause she's a toddler and yeah, lost my though. :)

I struggle with my ADD among other things and I was hoping she'd be "normal" but I'm starting to freak out...is it just me being a mommy or is it something I should look into?

thanks for reading i know this was long

I used to fear gratings and escalators when I was a kid. Riding on an escalator was enough to send me into a first class panic until I was nearly 8 years old. Both still make me uneasy.... I eventually learned that those fears are common in children..

It sounds like she is reacting strongly to visual stimulation. I'm betting the child is fine and normal and just has a vivid imagination.

You mentioned she tiptoes a lot.... If she is tiptoeing more than waking flat footed, you should consult a doctor, especially if the child is hyperactive or has known motor or language problems. This could be related to the visual issues, and ought to be investigated if the child is mostly on tiptoes as there are a number of things that can cause it. Even if she is ADHD, she is doing what is normal for her. Be patient.

I'm no doctor, but that is my two-cent's worth...

One of my son's would not touch food or anything messy with his hands. He would eat a sandwhich puppy style off the table before he would pick it up.

Another of my boys would scream when the wind blew.

I am sure that at least one of them has ADD.....he's being tested next month.

Wittle kids come up with some weird things to stress over when they are two. I know because I am a parent that you are concerned......but I'll bet that she hits the floor running before you know it......especially if she has ADD.
I agree with speedo that she probably has a strong imagination.........
that can be a great thing.

Thank you so much for the replys!! :)

Now that I've read what you've written I'm pretty sure she just has some silly things of me in her...DUH!! that would make sense her being my child and all.

I would have to say her imagination is very strong...kinda reminds me of myself at times. And yes she's super hyper...but being a toddler I don't want to say she has ADD....although with me having ADD/OCD I wouldn't be surprised, not like its a bad thing....

we have so much fun together anyways...maybe if i helped her imagine fun things on the floor it would help??

I wear glasses so I don't know if it could be something to do with her eye sight, she complains about her eyes sometimes mostly at night or the middle of the day...can't tell if it's cause she's tired or something is wrong...

her doctor is very old school and doesn't like to run test or anything on the little kiddies so yeah...I feel like i'm going out on a limb when i suggest something about treatments or the like...I love him he's great just not with this type of thing..

thank you again...and if anyone else wants to add please do so!!! :D

Find a place with a really cool looking floor and go have fun with it. :)

Flygurl, according to what i have learned about child development, 2 year old children are unable to hold your hand and walk along beside you. that's why your child wanted you to pick her up. and that's why she freaked when you didn't. she just is not capable of doing what you are asking of her. that takes another year to happen. if you want, check up some child development references or ask a pediatrician.
