I can build the computers no problem. I'm yer man there. :D :D :D I just can't AFFORD any of it.. :( Garry 09-08-03, 06:59 PM I cant afford it either Every time I start a new project it means I have to go to work again to pay for it Work gets in the way of life I like working at My X-Mother-in-laws cottage as it is right on a lake and she just gives me her Credit card and tells me what she wants done. I get to build stuff with no worry about cost , work at whatever speed I choose and then go jump in the lake when I want a break. My ex-wife is not real thrilled that I get along with her mother better than she does Keppig 09-08-03, 08:11 PM I can plaster and sand... Would you please fly yourself and everybody to Florida when you're done in Australia??:) We have beautiful beachers here in Florida....and weather is always warm....you can jump into an ocean....:) Garry 09-08-03, 11:38 PM I went to florida in March once couldn't wait to get home to my snow and ice too hot for me waywardclam 09-09-03, 03:05 AM Hehehe, I know what you mean Garry... Iowa is too hot for me, never mind Florida! LOL And "Work gets in the way of life"... Boy, if that doesn't just sum up ALL of my troubles in life! *sigh*... sleepzalot 09-09-03, 06:57 AM Gary, I scrapped ICE off my windscreen yesterday to go to work...cold enough? Now, how many tickets.. Kassie the plasterer Gary the Desk maker Paul for the computer Joan for moral support hmm..looks like no dinner for me tonight! Sleepz joanrdtobe 09-09-03, 05:01 PM Sleepz: What a team....:) Yes there is dinner for you tonight.....as I'm cooking..... (in addition to moral support:) )......... I scraped off many many windows on wintery snowy mornings until I was in my 30's -- having grown up in New England......yes sometimes it was very cold....If it's that cold in Australia now and it's only September, what's it like in November - January?? Incidentally the reason I moved to Florida is because I went to a few inpatient treatment centers here and my therapist said to not go home to Boston because my dysfunctional family was there and I would never stay well....I listened to him.... And I also discovered one of the reasons for my severe depression all those years was because I have what's called SAD....seasonal affective disorder.... Winter afternoons around 4:00 when it started to get dark very early....I would get very depressed....came to understand my moods were affected by the dark and cold weather - and so living in Florida has helped.... So what does this have to do with building computers??? Not much...Sorry for the tangeant.... Garry 09-09-03, 07:32 PM As my non ADD friend whould always say to me when I apologised for something I didn't need to appologise for He would say "Don't Be Sorry" "Buy Me Something" I always got a grin from that So Joan Dont Be Sorry Buy Us Something Debralee 09-09-03, 07:36 PM Wow sounds great Garry! Ct is still here....just lurking not much to add lately...busy at another forum...still come in to read ..this place can be addictive.. joanrdtobe 09-09-03, 08:07 PM Deb: Yes, no kidding -- this place IS addictive.......I mentioned once that I think someone might want to start a group called "Forums Anonymous"......... Garry: What would you like me to buy? Garry 09-09-03, 08:12 PM An hagendaus Ice cream Bar and being that you cant send it to me you eat it and enjoy the treat joanrdtobe 09-09-03, 08:21 PM D: D: D: D: Okay........I'll buy plenty of them....and save them for dessert.....to go with the meal that I am cooking for the computer building team (of which you are the head) sugggested above in Sleepz's post.....:) Garry 09-09-03, 09:52 PM Golly a virtual meal a virtual Haugendaus ice cream bar all we need now is a virtual glass of after dinner brandy and a couch grin waywardclam 09-10-03, 02:39 AM Oops... excuse me... (virtual belch) sleepzalot 09-10-03, 03:42 AM Joan, It is our winter here. Apparantly, all our warmth gets sent via UPS to the northern hemisphere, and that is why it is cold here now, but warm where you are. In our summer, it averages about 95-100 in January February. I understand SAD, and if you want to check out something cool, look at this link. I built myself a pair of these. http://flinderstech.flinders.edu.au/led_light_glasses1.htm A must for every computer room!! Sleepz. Garry 09-13-03, 10:43 PM I painted the room today New photos to follow tommorow joanrdtobe 09-14-03, 05:03 AM Sleepz: Thanks for that website...Some good information there....Do you think you could post a picture of yourself here with the bright light glasses on that you built for yourself??? I would love to see what the glasses look like that you built...and heck, a picture of YOU at the same time.....:) You are very talented for having built the glasses by the way...:) Garry: Congrats for getting the room painted....looking forward to seeing "virtual" pix....:) sleepzalot 09-14-03, 06:56 AM Joan, Soon...when I get my camera. My Avatar was me in a previous life it that helps..hehe Sleepz Garry 09-21-03, 07:18 PM Shelves in my room (http://www3.sympatico.ca/garrylawton/Computer/DSC02299.JPG) My 13 year old Daughters New Car (http://www3.sympatico.ca/garrylawton/Cars/DSC02306.JPG) She has 3 years to put it together and get it running but she should have a pretty good idea of how to fix it by the time were done My New Car (http://www3.sympatico.ca/garrylawton/Cars/DSC02305.JPG) sleepzalot 09-21-03, 08:53 PM Garry, I know it gets cold in Canada, but does your daughter really need to have that much insulation for a car that size? Shelves are cool. what materials for the benches and shelves? Melamine? MDF? Sleepz Wheel1975 09-21-03, 09:27 PM Originally posted by Garry Lawton I get to build stuff with no worry about cost , work at whatever speed I choose and then go jump in the lake when I want a break. You've got the gig that counts! joanrdtobe 09-21-03, 10:10 PM Garry, that was nice of you to get your daughter that car....let's see at 13 years old -- when will she be old enough to drive it in your country???:) Shelves are beautiful.....Offer still stands...come to Florida and build me a computer with shelves:D.....I will pay you good $$$:D Garry 09-21-03, 10:21 PM Both Melamine and MDF no the isulation is what is left over from redoing the attic. you can get your beginners at 16 and I think you have to wait a while before you can get you graduated licence stage 1. thats ok as she will have driver training to take first by the time shes 20 or so there will be very few people left who can actully work on VW beatles so she will have to know how to do it herself as it will be her car someday. At first it is supposed to be her Mom's car but I know how long that will last joanrdtobe 09-21-03, 11:24 PM Well while she's in driver training....(toward getting her "learner's permit", right?), you will take her out driving, right??? I mean when I learned to drive, it really was my dad who taught me everything:) Don't forget to teach her "three point turns" and parallel parking just in case she happens to drive to Boston someday and needs to park there:D Garry 09-22-03, 07:59 AM Ill be teaching her to drive long before she is 16 the beauty of small town canada and back roads grin joanrdtobe 09-22-03, 09:51 AM That will be nice....quality time....:) |
