View Full Version : ADD after Strattera RedBeard 07-16-05, 12:08 AM Has anyone ever heard of ADD symptoms being much worse after stopping Strattera? It seems to be the case with me; I've been making a lot of bonehead mistakes at work. Is it temporary? Imnapl 07-16-05, 12:11 AM Nice to know that the meds. worked? exeter 07-16-05, 02:58 AM I'm assuming you mean worse as in worse than before you started meds. It didn't happen to me, although I did notice just how much Strattera was helping me after I had to quit taking it. Things went in the crapper pretty fast after I was off my meds for a couple weeks. But, worse than before? Nope. I'm wondering if this might not be just your self perception. Try asking others (friends/supportive relatives/etc) if they notice you being more ADD-like than before. RedBeard 07-16-05, 06:32 PM Yeah, I meant worse than before and during the time I took Strattera. My symptoms before taking Strattera were a nuisance but somewhat manageable. While taking Strattera, my ADD symptoms largely subsided, but the side effects were intolerable. Now I no longer take it and my symptoms are worse than they have ever been. I'm certain now that it is not my imagination. Friends and coworkers first brought it to my attention. Each day I do something so boneheaded it makes me wonder. Today for example I wandered around the paper towel/toilet paper section for 20 minutes at Wal-Mart looking for cotton swabs. Now I knew Wal-Mart had cotton swabs and they must be in that section, certainly not in clothing, house wares or automotive. I finally asked an employee and she told me they were in health and beauty, which I had totally forgotten about. I do something like that everyday now and it's starting to **** me off. Imnapl 07-16-05, 07:49 PM Wal-Mart also has cotton swabs in the baby section. :D RedBeard, if this is only the first time you've had difficulty when shopping, consider yourself lucky. Has anything changed at work? RedBeard 07-16-05, 09:12 PM Yeah, I've made a lot of bonehead mistakes lately. Things that are out of the norm for me. My boss brought to my attention. I think its just temporary. I hope. If you want to hear all the weird experiences I had while taking Strattera, you can read my earlier post titled "My Experience with Strattera." Its rather long though. RedBeard 07-16-05, 09:51 PM I meant "My Recent Experience with Strattera" elebela 07-24-05, 06:41 PM You are not alone. I am on day 6 of strattera and I, too, feel more stupid than before. I am having terrible side effects from strattera. I am sluggish, my skin crawls and then feels tingly all over. I am constanly dropping things and when driving, my depth perception is off so I am slamming on brakes a lot. I started out on 25 mg for 3 days and then went up to 60. My first day on 60 I locked myself out of the house and left my car keys inside. I am not more focused or organized than before and actually feel more distracted from the way strattera makes me feel. My appetitie has decreased quite a bit and there are times when my tongue feels numb. My Dr. was reluctant to rx a stimulant for me and said strattera has less side effects. I have taken adderall and I have to disagree with my Dr. Other side effects - stomachache, emotional detachment, mood swings, headache, extreme sweating, confusion, lack of motivation RedBeard 08-02-05, 11:48 PM Yeah, I really experienced some bad side effects on the stuff. A lot of people in this forum seem to have benefited from Strattera and that's great, but for some people, it just doesn't seem to mesh well. Trust your instincts on this one. (If you have time, read my post "My Experience with Strattera" if you want to hear all the crap I went through.) |
