View Full Version : Tooooooooooo many meds?????????????
My daughte ris having a lot of problems such as her insomnia is MUCH worse, she is terrified of people(which she was never before ),feels like bugs are crawling on her and when they really are like a fly she flips out BAD!!!!!!!! she is on concerta, clonidine and trazadone. If any of you have any stories to share with me or bad side effects or any side effects that were this noticeable please share it with me and tell me what you did to change this suck=h as med change or discontinue. Please and thank you very much!!!
jlscott252 07-23-05, 02:39 PM My son was on clonidine 0.15 mg, and he started hallucinating at night..seeing evil figures, heads, heard people talking to him. Was really scary for both of us. He had a really hard time staying in his room. We took him off the clonidine, and the hallucinations stopped. Could be that, or too much meds, for her system to handle. Something to think about.
I really gotta get her better, this is not my lil girl.Yesterday we went to my sons baseball game and she flipped right out crying she did not wanna get out of the van that people are looking at her, when we finaaly got her out she sat right between our chairs the whole 2 hours. There was a bug and she flipped out after that thinking they were all over her. What do i do when the ndoctor does not want to listen? The y say not to just pull the kids right off of the meds?im lost dont know what to do???????????????????????????

Did you do what the last doctor told you to do?
jacaboon 07-23-05, 05:50 PM I did tell you before that it sounded like a lot. It's hard for children to verbalize side effects and I feel for you. IMO I would call her doc asap about tapering the meds. if she seems worse on them then before she started. When I had bad effects 2 weeks ago I put a page out to my doc for answers and she was glad I did so I didn't have to suffer just because the office was closed. Follow your gut. If you know she's not the same and the meds. aren't helping get her off them in a safe way. If it was my son (and you know what I go through wth him) I'd make the call. A good doc knows patients don't only have issues during office hours and from where you are I'm assuming it is Sat. Just my humble opinion to help her and ease your mind:( . Best of luck.....Jac

The scary thing is this has been going on for a few weeks and the doctor is aware and all he can say is i really dont know what to do anymore,im like arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. He is a doctor he should know a little more then he does i think but that is my opinion. She goes for a sceond opinion on monday at 515.
jessie'smom 07-23-05, 08:39 PM My daughter did the same thing when she was getting to much of her concerta. We cut her dose in half and she was fine. We were trying 54mg of concerta and we cut it down to 27mg in the morning and 18 about noon or 1.
I am sorry about your daughter but I know how you feel. My daughter was doing the EXACT same thing with the bugs it was really scary. Hope you get it fixed.
jessies mom
I know it will get better because i will not give up but its just scary too because she was on 72 mg and now she is down to 36 and its a little better but not fully better.I hate all these meds they have her on they are making her a person she is not. Thanks so much fot ur post!!!
jessie'smom 07-23-05, 09:37 PM I am glad she is at least doing a little better. I have learned that every little bit helps! I am still trying to figure out which is worse unmedicated adhd or the trial and error game of finding the right med!
jacaboon 07-23-05, 09:57 PM I can't believe your doc's attitude! This is a child. How can she basically shrug her shoulders? Ugh! I am so glad you're getting a second opinion. I hope another doc can help her out and see if this coctail of meds is to much for her or reacting poorly. Keep me updated....Jac
I do agree im happy she is doing a little better but thats the key word a little and it makes no sense to have a little girl this little this messed up.I agree also on is it better to be unmedicated or trial and error game?
Yes I was very mad about it and still am when i took her to the doctor and the doctor said exact words"I really do not know what to do at this point, volume is the only other thing i can give her besides what she is on to sleep and im not giving her that"and i said your darn right your not cause i will not allow it.She is going for a secong opinion monday evening at 515 so i will be sure to update you all thank you so much for your support!!!
Another thing that drew the line for me today is my little girl was sitting in the chair in the living room and she heard someone talking outside and got REALLY scared and went right down to the ground and was looking around. She is so terrified of people it is terrible.Something has got to give here. She was NEVER like this before they started screwing with her medications.
