View Full Version : ADDForums being moved to Multiple load balanced servers right now
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are in the process now of migrating over to multiple load balanced xeon servers from our single server. This process should hopefully be complete by late Sunday evening and you all should notice an increase in the speed pages load, etc.

stanzen 07-24-05, 03:17 PM Thanks, David.
Nucking_Futs 07-24-05, 05:46 PM For the computer illerterate does that mean anything in way of membership changes? Will I be locked out for a few days? Will posts be lost? And thats all about all I have right now lol
I was wondering the same thing, is this a general announcement, or a notice that something will be "happening"? lol. Like will there be a block out time or something? or will it just work faster all of a sudden? or will the format change after the thing-es change? will it all work the same?
I suspect we'll have to take the forums off-line for a few minutes during the switchover.
Nucking_Futs 07-24-05, 10:39 PM Well, I'm sure I can manage for a few minutes. Can't I? *looks around*
minn306 07-24-05, 10:42 PM do we hear "withdrawls" happening??
wait.... off-line as in.... I can't check the new postings every minute???? what will I do???? lol :D
Nucking_Futs 07-25-05, 07:03 AM Is this new tick an indicator of withdrawal?
Go David! Great move. Hope it's all gone smoothly.
I believe the migration is complete now.
DO any of you notice any appreciable speed increases?
I do. :) Thanks for upgrading us!
minn306 07-25-05, 10:00 AM so far I have seen a big difference with the speed.
Thank you David for all that you have given to us on this forum. It means so much to so many of us

I appreciate the complements but my role here has been extremely simple compared to that of the active staff. They are the real backbones of this place. If it were not for great staff and members in communities, there would be no need for upgrading servers. Despite the stress of moving and upgrading stuff, I am very proud to see that more powerful equipment is needed. Shows success in the communities.
There may be some minor lagging today while we finish installing various things that need to be added to the new servers.

minn306 07-25-05, 03:08 PM okay I spoke to soon..............I lost the website for quite a while
Glad it came back on or there would have been some serious withdrawls isssues!!!
minn306 07-25-05, 03:16 PM I do have a question for you though David.
Would changing servers have anything to do with me no longer getting email messages about new private messages I have here??

you can change that by clicking your User CP on the upper left of the blue bar then under Edit Options in the Left Bar in Messaging & Notification under "Private Messaging" make sure the box is checked next to Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages.... that'll get it to go back to emailing you notifications

We're still working on the server so it is likely going to flux from very fast to slow at times. Thanks for everyone's patience. :)
crime_scene 07-26-05, 11:46 PM everything seems great. I don't know what those techie exeon server things really do, but zowie, we're riding high now!
Ichpuchtli 07-29-05, 11:24 PM I hope that is good because I do not understand, but like usal I will just clap pretending that I know exactly what you are talking about.
The server move has been completed.
