Ok.....I have been without meds for about almost a year...
Just got new p. doc and got prescribed Adderall XR. This is the first time taking the XR. I was told by doc to start at 1 pill of 10MG once a day for the first 3 days...then after day 3 to take 2 pills of 10MG once a day. So far today is day #2, i have follow the doc instructions to the T. I have notice that 1 pill @10MG once a day does NOTHING to me.... I will se after day 3 that i will upped my dose as DOC prescribed and see what happens. I need to get back to doc in 2 weeks so he could re-adjust dose.
My question is: is the XR that does not works well???? ...
He mention that probably he will need to add to the prescription regular release for the afternoon....
Sorry guys i am just venting a bit here......
Just frustrated that my meds are not really working.....
any ideas...comments...suggestions....
I am writng everything down..(when i remember to do it)so when i get back to doc...in 2 weeks i have everything documented....

I've been in similar situations-
I was on Adderall XR with IR in the afternoon for a while, then stopped, and now I'm back on the bandwagon.

You will most likely do better when you up your dose (as your doctor prescribes, of course). If 10mg does nothing for you, perhaps 20mg will (again, as long as this is what your doctor is telling you to do).

I'm currently on Adderall XR 20mg- once per day in the morning. I don't take the IR version right now but will get some more from the doctor the next time I go in (in 6 weeks).

Feel free to PM me if you want. I'll try to answer any of your questions!

What XR does is it releases 1/2 of the dose into your body at a time. So, you're getting 5mgs at once, which maybe isn't the optimal dose for you, but . . .

What your doc is doing, though, is smart. This low dose is enabling your body to get used to the new med, so hopefully the side effects will be minimal (or none) from the start. There is a big possibility, when starting on a higher dosage that you will experience the not so fun side effects.

Also, docs should prescribe low to start, because they don't know your optimal dose. They don't know what your body can or can't take. For some people, 10mgs XR could be their optimal dose. You don't want to take more than your body can handle - especially when taking a new med.

Optimal dose is the dose that works best for you, with no to minimal side effects and optimum positive effects.

You've only been on it 2 days- a body needs to get used to a new med.

Hang in there.
