I think I may not take strattera anymore.
It does work and keeps me on track but I just am tired of taking it.
It's evened me out to the point of boredom.
Its been interesting looking at life from another part of the compass. And its been a good lesson.
WIll be mulling it over tonight. and tomorrow.
Will make the call by tuesday.
If I may ask:
How long have you been taking Strattera and what is your current dosage?
Are you experiencing any side-effects that make you want to stop?
What do you mean by "boring"?
I would assume you have some doubts about stopping the medicine, since you made this post. ;)
I thought about this post last night.
This probably doesn't apply to you MB, but I see ADD people do something along the lines of the following fairly frequently and I was wondering if anybody had any insights into why: They make a change and it works out GREAT. They're feeling good and getting what they want. So they change back. Usually disaster ensues. Why do I....uh, I mean "they", why do they do that?
Instead of stop taking it all the time why not give yourself a break from it like on the weekends?

Motorbrain....I went off the strattera because i wasn't sure it was working. My adhd hit me in the face full force, and I realized how much better it made me. So I am using it again with success. I've been taking it since late April.
But if you are talking about boredom...I can tell you that I have not really been bored but I have noticed a new "attitude?" in myself. I call it apathy. I am not sure....I've heard that strattera can have an antipressant effect, so maybe that is what it is.
I just plain don't care about some things that worried me before. I'm not into doing anything at all if it's not stimulating. So I've gotten kind of wicked.
And if your feelings are hurt, I might just say "stop crying like a baby" instead of "ohhh poor baby". I will probably continue taking it unless they come up with something "more new and more better".
Wicked. Apathetic and wicked.
Just a little. ;)
I hope everything works out for you. Good luck. :)

I have seen similar posts mentioning "apathy" or lack of emotion symptoms. See if you can get some honest feedback from someone close to you. See if they are noticing the same symptoms.
This could be good or bad. Maybe we are confusing anxiety with emotion too. If Strattera has anti-depression characteristics, then maybe the anxiety level we are used to is now reduced. Strattera works mainly on the norepinephrine (javascript:showGlossary('gloss_norepinephrine.htm l')) reuptake inhibitors (NRI's), which help deliver dopamine through the pre-frontal cortex. These are the pumps for dopamine, which help with concentration. It has also been reported to increase the "happy" feeling that is usually produced by serotonin. Maybe these pumps are also helping deliver serotonin?
Just some thoughts.
