My doctor is having me take 100 mg on days that I work and 60 mg on my days off. Is anyone else doing this? Everytime I have changed doseages I feel bad for 3 or 4 days. This is going to really suck.

My husband loves your avatar-I'm afraid he's got a HOG bite and its eating him alive and will continue to do so until he has one of his own. Of course he doesn't know how to drive a motorcycle so I'll probably be out there with my soup ladel scooping up his remains after his first try. And they say ADHD'ers don't think before they act. I told my dear husband that I would not even look at getting one until he passed a safety/riding class. I'm a smart cookie. :p Anyways, going into this with a "this is going to suck" attitude is not going to do you any favors either. There is probably a very good reason for this and I would think its to let your body excrete some of the excess from the week before but could be totally off. All you have to lose is a few days of feeling like crud then you can say "see I told ya so". herekittykitty 08-03-05, 09:50 AM Hi onedge, Yup, when I was on Strattera, my doc suggested the same thing; he said that it builds up enough in your system that there shouldn't be huge ups and downs--but varying the dosage on different days helps to even things out, to a dosage that will hopefully help. Nucking_Futs 08-03-05, 09:53 AM AWSOME!!!! I was close anyways. onedge 08-03-05, 02:15 PM My husband loves your avatar-I'm afraid he's got a HOG bite and its eating him alive and will continue to do so until he has one of his own. People on cell phones dirving are always trying to run me over. Yup, when I was on Strattera, my doc suggested the same thing; he said that it builds up enough in your system that there shouldn't be huge ups and downs--but varying the dosage on different days helps to even things out, to a dosage that will hopefully help. My problem is the 40 mg swing and I work 5 days and off 5 days. I'll try it but I have that zombie feeling going on right now and don't like it much. timh 08-03-05, 02:41 PM My doctor is having me take 100 mg on days that I work and 60 mg on my days off. Is anyone else doing this? Everytime I have changed doseages I feel bad for 3 or 4 days. This is going to really suck. This is the first time I have heard of this type of dosage schedule for Strattera. It's obvious that 100mg to 60mg is a big jump for your body. Have you tried taking 100mg even on the days off? If so, do you notice a difference in ADHD symptoms from taking 60mg? How about if you took 80mg all the time? What is this "100mg on work days and 60mg on off days" dosage actually supposed to accomplish? I would follow your doctor's direction, but tell them the side affects are bad. I only experience the side affects when I do a dosage increase and then it goes away. I am currently at 60mg and will increase to 80mg in about 2 months. I am also on 10mg of Adderall XR in the AM. It seems to be a good combination for me. My doc is also see positive results with his other patients on this combo. Good luck. onedge 08-03-05, 02:57 PM Tim He told me it would keep me from building a tolerace. I have been increasing dosage once a week for 6 weeks now and only feel normal 1 or 2 day before I increase again. I have told him this. I only have 2 more days until I reduce and don't think that will be a problem. When I go back to work and that feeling comes back I will be very vocal with him. timh 08-03-05, 07:27 PM I would like to see if I understand this correctly. You are taking 100mg during the week (working). You are taking 60mg during the weekend (not working). You then go back to 100mg during the week (working). You then go to 60mg during the weekend (not working). You will repeat this cycle as long as you are taking Strattera? onedge 08-03-05, 08:41 PM I work shift work. 12 hour rotating shifts, 6 am to 6 pm days and 6 pm to 6 am nights. It goes somthing like this and bear in mind I that take the meds when I go to bed. 5 days 100mg 4 off 60mg 5 nights 100mg 5 off 60mg 4 days 100mg 5 off 60mg Thats basically a one month rotation. |
