Hello:D

I just started Adderall generic (not XR) 1 week ago. I started at a very low dose 5mg twice a day. Each day I have increased my dose. I find that I can function great while taking it but it doesnt last long. 20mg last about 4...5 hours max. After the 20 mg wears off I take another 10mg...yet I feel I like I didn't take anything.
What is everyones take on generic Adderall vs Adderall XR. Which do you get better results with? I get amazing results with the generic I just feel like it wears of very quick. I want something that last all day.

Thanks!

Tracy:)

The Adderall IR (immediate release) is designed to only lasts a few hours. Adderall XR doesn't last all day either (from what I've read here) - only about 5-6 hours.

I've never taken Adderall XR, I was just given the opportunity and decided to stick with IR.

With IR, I have more control over when I want to take it. It seems like side effects are more prevalent (but I don't know this for sure - just from reading posts in this section) for XR. My (ADD) doc told me that some people who take IR or XR have difficulty with the other.

IR works great for me, I don't want to fix what's not broken.

If you want to try XR, go for it! a lot of people here do well on it. A definite benefit is you don't have to take it so often. Some people take XR in the morning and an IR in the afternoon when XR wears off.

Just one gal's opinion! Here are some other links that discuss Adderall IR and XR

This one is about how long they last:
