Hi everyone. Thanks for the email inviting me to post. Where do I start? Well Megan was diagnosed with Bipolar comorbid with ADHD and I have a confirmation of that. She had to be hospitalized for the bipolar in August and is now taking Lithium and Risperdal for it. She is starting to stabilize and we are now seeing a lot of anxiety with school starting and now separtion anxiety. The pdoc is also watching for signs of OCD as Megan is very upset about clutter in her room and is counting things. She also is throwing away things and wanted to give things to her cousins. She had the neuro psych exam on Aug. 5th and 6th and I am meeting with the tdoc on the 22nd to review it. Megan also sprained her neck last month while manic and riding her bike on wet grass. It has been a month...thanks for thinking of me.

Wow Laurie,
Sure sounds like you've had your plate full this month! Please keep us in the loop on strategies & progress made.
I wish Megan a speedy recovery from her sprained neck.

Laurie: I remember you well.......You had said, if I remember correctly, that Megan also was having problems with too much weight loss with her meds.....partially due to some surgery she had had.....How is she doing with this???
I too am sorry about the broken neck......and yes your challenges with your daughter certainly sound as if they continue....
Please keep posting here and we will continue to support you....:)

Thanks, Joan, Big, and Paul. Joan, the Risperdal is helping her gain weight. She had that surgery on her esophagus/stomach so she eats smaller portions than most people. It is a blessing to see her put on some weight. Oh and she just sprained her neck, thank goodness it was not broken. Ironically, I am reading about how all these health problems may be linked neurologically. I read that BP kids sometimes have gastro problems. I also read that some Serotonin is regulated (?) in the gastro system. Hope I am quoting that right. It is amazing what the brain does. The only thing we are not addressing now is regulating the ADHD. The first step is to stabilize the mood, then proceed from there. It may take awhile, but we are getting there. I hope all of you have been doing well.
