my 12 year old daughter was just diagnosed with this, I was wondering if acting immature in one of the signs, she like to play with my 3 year olds toys and enjoys herself, she acts as if she is 7. example If we are sitting on the couch and there is no room for her she will sit and pout until everyone gets mad at her and make funny noises, and act like its the end of the world, when she is around it makes life hectic for siblings but when she is not around they seem happy is this normal? She has not started any meds yet.

Howdy ecsrj:
Yes, they do say that ADD-I types are late to mature (ADDers in general, too).
I personally watched the Smurfs on Saturday mornings very diligently all the way into high school (sshhh! ;))
Papa Smurf...Papa Smurf.....come quick!

My daughter is 6.5 and we had her tested right before she turned 6. Emotional maturity wise she tested at 3.5 (OMG!) and this is probably our biggest issue with her overall. We chose not to try medication at that time because we tried some behavioral techniques first (positive rewards, very consistent guidelines, etc.). Those worked quite well, but we still struggle.
We are considering a trial run of medication this fall to see if it helps in her academic development - she is having an IQ test done this Friday (the only test we didn't do it seems) and that will help our dr. decide which medication to try.
Long-winded answer, but YES in our experience, this is a sign.
