Here are some tips that have helped me a lot (From C student to A)
- STUDY AT THE LIBRARY or somewhere NOT where you relax/unwind/have fun. Eliminate distrations of any sorts. Spread out and buckle down.
- MANAGE YOUR TIME WISELY: If you are not partying, you are studying. Essentially, play hard and work hard. For ever 1 hour of play, you need 2 hours of study.
- START A ROUTINE AND STICK WITH IT. The trick with establishing healthy habits is to start them as soon as you transition into a new semester.
- KEEP YOUR PAD CLEAN! You don't want to bring girls back home to a mess. Have neat things to keep guests occupied. Light scented candles to keep the smell fresh and the ambience relaxed. Do laundry every week.
- GET A TUTOR IF YOU NEED ONE. One of my fraternity brothers coached me through my accounting class, gave me his old notes/tests, and even drilled me the days before the exam. I paid him 15/hr but it is totally worth it considering i'm shoveling out thousands for tuition.
- GET TO KNOW YOUR GRADER! I make it a priority to keep a good, strong relationship with those who are going to grade me on my papers. You must remember, they are students and people too. Stay after class and ask them intelligent questions or just chat it up about sports or whatever. You have to stand out somehow in order to get that cut of the top 10%.
- DO NOT DO DRUGS DURING EXAM WEEK (give yourself a 2 week rest period prior if you binge). It will slow your mind and screw up your memory. Take it from me and my experiences. You can do it all after exam week and it feels so much better not having priorities handing over your head.
- MAKE LISTS. Shopping, To Do, etc. Get a dry erase board for your room, keep it updated every day. Once you have a nice list, it's pretty encouraging going through it and seeing all of the things you've accomplished.
-STAY NICE AND POSITIVE ABOUT EVERYTHING. If you send out good vibes, people will be attracted to you. Be nice to everyone and give them the time of day because there are lots of fun and interesting friends out there waiting for you to find them. Hell, i met my best friend waiting in the check-out line for textbooks and my girlfriend from a randomly assigned math group.
Follow these tips and i guarantee you that you will kick *** in college. Good luck and have fun!
