View Full Version : when you grow up . ..
livinginchaos 08-12-05, 12:29 AM What do you want to be when you grow up??!!
What careers do you think would be fun?
When I grow up . . .
First, I'm going to be either a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst
Then, I'm going to be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
For my next career, I want to do something with computers!
My ultimate dream is to sing on broadway - but I think that will have to happen in another life :D
I think being an astronaut would be so cool, or a travel writer - that way I could travel all I wanted to :D
I also think being an artist (painter and/or sculptor) would be interesting. I would like to be a secret shopper and rate stores and their employees
I tossed around the idea of being an ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter, but I don't think it would hold my interest. I don't think I could pay attention that long.
How about you?!
In my next life, I want to be a wardrobe mistress or a cat.
Well, I was thinking about getting a career in computer.
It would be me starting my own computer company.
Then i thought out getting a career in warning systems/
It would be my starting my own warning system company.
ive thought about other stuff too....
Nucking_Futs 08-12-05, 10:07 AM What kind of other stuff Gil? Even stupid dreams count here.
I've always wanted to be a nurse and I will be a nurse it just might take me till I'm 90.
The silly dreams I've had
A kickboxer though I did compete it was only on the ammatuer level.
A professional wrestler (O' shush I was 5)
I don't want to be an ice skater, I just want to be graceful enough to do it.
A race car driver (I sometimes forget I am not resulting in getting pulled over a lot)
Oh yeah i forgot...I also want to work at a school.
Nucking_Futs 08-12-05, 10:40 AM There are a lot of jobs relating to schools. Could you be more specific? Do you want to teach? if so what grade level?
I wouldnt mind being a teacher. not sure what grade though. maybe 4th grade.
Define the age that we're suppose to grow up at. In my next life I would like to be a nurse, if I can handle the sight of blood :)
Whatever I wanted to be when I grew up changed weekly.
I'm 28 years old, still changing..

pembroke 08-12-05, 03:20 PM um....i'm 47 and still don't know what i want to be when i grow up.
right now i'm at the end of mom, housekeeper, secretary, cook, nurse, taxidriver - all the things one does as a mom.
i also work as a datatranscriber, looking for a management positon in said company.
i was thinking about taking an art course, because i started in college as an art major.
i also did the medical assistant cert, but decided i really don't like sick people. i can hardly stand my own family when they are sick :p
I still don't know, but you have to pick something, so I'm studying database management. Well, okay, "you" don't have to pick something, I guess, but "one" has to. I have to. The mama-job is getting much less demanding, and will expire altogether in another 12 years or so, so I want to have something else lined up.
So even though I was a social-science major, I opted for something computery because I really really want to be employable. Following your bliss is all very well, but my bliss changes weekly, so I have to follow something a little more steady. I guess.
Hmm..now i think i want to be an engineer...the one that works with trains and locomotives.
HighFunctioning 08-12-05, 08:58 PM Talk about growing up, look at ALL the children posting in the Teen Hangout forum. :p
I love basketball, so my dream careers has always been to play in the NBA. But that's obviously unrealistic. So I wanna be a computer programmer. My plan would be to start at some big company like Microsoft, get some good experience, and then if possible to move to a tiny company or start my own and make video games.
I love writing, so I'm definitly considering Journalism. Don't worry, I won't be one of those annoying journalists that pester you for information :p
I'm also considering Physical Therapy, since I like helping people, and I have a lot of patience.
livinginchaos 08-13-05, 05:12 PM Binro - - - --how you feel about basketball must be the same way I am about singing and broadway. I think your idea to start at a big company and then build your own, sounds great!!
Welcome, Paws13! what kind of Journalist? newspaper? magazine? any certain topics?

When your sixteen consider a job working as a CNA (Ceritified Nursing Assistant) or a PCA (Personal Care Aide) in most long term and rehabilitive facilities the CNA'S AND PCA'S get to take an active role in physical and occupational therapies. It'll give you a little experiance under your belt, some term knowledge and you make a good chunk of change.
Bedders 08-18-05, 10:43 PM phycologist  EM...or a professional bum :D JOKE i dunno actually

Nucking_Futs 08-19-05, 10:53 AM you know what they say Bedders " 'mo money 'mo problems" not matter how much you make you always find a way to spend it before you've earned it.
phsychogirl 12-15-05, 12:41 PM i wanna be a child phsychiatrist.if i cant be that then i would want to do something else to do with phsychology

I'm also considering Physical Therapy, since I like helping people, and I have a lot of patience.Since I wrote this on Aust 13'th, my career opinion has changed. I found out that journalism is tougher than it looks. I also found out that for physical therapy, you have to train in the OR and ER, and I'm very squeemish :faint:
My new choice is to be an evaluater, or someone who diagnoses people with mental disorders. This is because they're very helpful people, and they give good counslor recommendations, etc...
