I was thinking about going to an online school but just saw some information about a student who filed a lawsuit against Capella University because they didn't provide accommodations. The guy who filed it has short term memory problems and I wonder if he has ADD. An article about it also appeared in the Chronicle of Higher Education. I found that article at

http://chronicle.com/free/v51/i49/49a03301.htm

the lawsuit is also online at

http://www.employmentlawyers4employees.com/index.htm

I was going to post on the Chronicle site but everyone posting there is so hostile towards people with learning disabilities. Based upon what I'm reading, I think I'm going to go to a traditional school instead.

Did you see my posting on Grad School...?

I am actually trying to take action against my college system for their universal admission standards that don't take a lack of access to ADHD treatment into account.

To make a long story short, I saw my school's psychologists for 5 years and no one suggested that I might have ADD. Now I am applying to grad school and they are attempting to hold me to the 3.5 GPA entrance standard even though I had an undiagnosed, untreated learning disability for 5 years of undergrad...I am going deep on this.

I think the onus is on you, collegestudent, to find the school that fits you best, and dare I say that online schools just don't fit ADD students...yes, I dare say it.

I am working towards my masters through an online program. It fits me pretty well :)

I'd prefer to be in class, but I would have to move in order to be in any behavior analysis master's program. The college I'm taking the program through has set deadlines, just like being on campus.

I really like it Southern Illinois University-Carbondale's online program. On the other hand, St Cloud State University's online behavior analysis master's program is horrid. I had 1 semester of experience with it before I quit. The professor wouldn't respond to my e-mails and the class was more a correspondence class than an online class (most everything was through "snail mail").

My recommendation with online schools:
research each school before you apply to see if their method of online classes would fit you.

I think online classes can work or not work with ADHD students, just like they can work or not work with any other person.

Too true - I found no success at all with online studies. Must attend and participate to have any hope at all. Have done masters degrees now with the attendance model!
