One step at a time.
If you have trouble focusing and settling down to meditate, you might like to give a walking meditation a try.
I try to calm the quietness in my head with long strides....not approach walking as exercise..let that be one of the perks.
Do it for my soul and let my body tag along.
I shut the world out and concentrate on the slow steady rhythm of my breathing and consider it fitness for the soul.
It's a great way to restore a sense of serenity.

Gourmet I like this idea.
I find trying to do meditation in a traditional style impossible.
I walk all the time with the dog any way.
So I'm going to give this a shot.:)

It honestly does work just carry band aids and a cell phone in case you accidently trip and scrape up your knees or walk into a tree NOT that I have done those things because we all know I would never ever do such a thing but I'm sure it could probably happen. *looks around to make sure no-one notices the guilty face*

Here's a hint...walk on the public track or around the park then you don't have to worry about wondering into traffic.
I've seriously wondered into traffic while working out an issue in my head and listening to my head phones. I now walk on the school track which is used by the public except during track season in which I walk around the lake at the park. At least I don't have to worry about cars but I have had a couple of close calls with attack ducks.

Protective gear, duck attacks. hmmm
This isn't sounding very relaxing. LOL
I did find a place I can take the dog with me to walk.
So it should be nice. :)

LoL......I can see me trying to meditate with my dalmatian. You two are a hoot! And the best way to walk her was with a leash and a skateboard....excellent transportation!
One more note about the walking and safety.....make sure you wear your "anti-rape" outfit or take a quiet friend. Y'all please don't break anything or hurt yourselves :) This is exercise for the soul, but we want to keep it here on earth for the time being!

Gourmet Did you see the thread?
Where I talked about tripping up stairs.
LOL I'll do my best to walk safely.
Thanks :)
Thank goodness Futs and I aren't trying to walk together.
We would just be crashing into each other. LOL
But in a graceful way. ;)
I'd seriously like to know how Futs knew.
I needed a wandering into traffic warning. LOL :o

I've learned that if its something I have done theres a fifty-fifty chance someone else has. I figured it was worth the chance of you laughing AT me or WITH me.
I do have a friend I walk with and we do bump off each other in a graceful way. Didn't realize it till I read your post how funny that probably looks. We've even caught ourselves holding hands-I think its just instinct that when a hand bumps yours to grab it.
Neither of us talk much during our walks, we're both pretty old and fat we need all the air we can get while excercising just to breath. lmao

Always laughing with you Futs.
Except for when we laugh at our selves together. ;)
Who else but another ADD woman.
Would know to tell me don't wander in traffic. LOL
I read that and thought , Oh yeah good point.
