Hi
I am bad at listening skills and so simple instructions do not register at all. This is mostly seen in my office where newer instructions are issued all the time. Sometimes I do manage to get along by asking colleagues. But then when it comes to evaluation, the supervisors have easily noted ( and try to probe if I have personal problems )that I am 'slow' when it comes to registering instructions. ( the harder i try to concentrate on listening, the worse it gets)

I do not need to look for any so-called ADD friendly job or whatever. I know that I will do well in the path I am taking because I am an accomplished computer engineer and I can code very well. I am very creative and intelligent.

I just need to know how to listen better, how to take instructions in a better way and not have my supervisors wondering if I have a 'problem'.

Any suggestions, are welcome and appreciated.

Ask for instructions in writing?

That's what I was thinking about too. Explain to them that since you are an engineer you process information much better visually.

Most people process information much better visually.
