Okay, I figured out what the problem is. I have this addiction to the internet, right? Well, I think it'll be best if I leave my computer (I have a laptop) in my car. That way, I won't get stuck on the internet for hours on end like I did last semester. That eats away time. Can't work on time management without time to manage! Haha...

Just put it safe somewhere it's not visible.

I have this addiction to the internet,
Could just be seeking stimulation via interaction w/ others too, but still, good idea. First things first.

We unhook our computer from its power source whenever it is not in use due to the fact that our son is a hacker and bid on Ebay, changed the user account status so his father and I couldn't even log on, etc, etc.

If there is stuff I have to focus on and can't have the distraction of the computer I send the power cord to my sister next door who won't return it until everything on the list I gave her is done. I do the samething with her library card for her. lol Whatever works IMHO go with it.

sounds like a keylogger is in order for that boy !

the internet is a addiction for ADD folks because of multi tasking/ racing mind syndrom,it's nothing for me to have 10 sites up and flipping back and forth between them

And I don't own a laptop -on purpose :D

What is a keylogger?
It's a hidden program that logs all keystrokes, traditionally used to gather other peoples' passwords, bank details etc.

If it's a true addiction, stopping use of it quite suddenly will probably make the situation worse.

ouch.

you couldn't have it password protected? or is it a 'family computer'? i've had a laptop for about 2 or 3 years now and i keep it password protected because i don't want anybody getting in there and reading my stuff...emails etc.

M_O, I think it is so great that you started this post 10 days ago about being "addicted" to the internet and here you are still posting even today! :p

I don't think I've ever wanted to reach out and give someone on this forum a friendly hug and knowng smile and pat on the back more than right now.

In fact, I smile with great amusement at the memory of me sitting in my car on a neighborhood street last weekend in Madison, WI (road trip) searching for a wireless signal to "borrow" so I could check in on my internet life after nearly 32 WHOLE hours without even turning my laptop on.........

It was password protected he just found a way to hack into the computer. so we change our password weekly which really makes him mad but I'm sure he'll survive.

I'm new to this forum and was diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago. I've been prescribed Adderall, Concerta, Wellbutrin, then back to Adderall XR combined with Focalin. I'm now on the regular release Adderall. When we got broadband about 8 months ago, you couldn't get me away from it. Thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that the internet seems to facilitate my ADHD. My vocabulary sucks so I hope facilitate is the right word. But because the internet allows us to look up anything we want, we do so. If I get bored with a topic that I'm looking up, I simply close the window or look up something else (keep in mind I never have less than two windows on at the same time). Where I'm going with this is, unless you have homework on the computer, do not get on. Best thing for me when I need to get my homework done is to sit at the dining room table to minimize any distractions. I might have gone on a tangent and don't know where this forum was going, but somewhere in the paragraph was something that relates to the thread.
