View Full Version : Internal Alarm Clock Andrew 08-21-05, 01:18 PM Does anyone just wake up at a particular time, no matter when they fall asleep? Circadian cycles or not, this is particularly annoying, when the time is 5am!!!! HighFunctioning 08-21-05, 10:13 PM My time seems to be about 8am if I'm not woke up by an alarm clock. It doesn't matter if I fall asleep at 12:00 am or 7:00 am, I'll wake up at 8. andiemedic 08-22-05, 01:14 AM Yes!! Mine is set to 0700 which is fine if I need to be up then but not kosher if I'm trying to sleep in. ferrette1976 08-22-05, 10:29 PM I wake up at 6:15AM every day. I don't even set my alarm anymore. On the weekends, I just let the dog out, feed her, and go back to bed. Sometimes I have a really hard time getting back to sleep though. :( Annoying? Yes - but it's better than before, when I was an hour late for work every day for over a year (I was very depressed). I'm surprised they didn't fire me. :o Andrew 08-27-05, 07:12 PM Hrmm...recently I've been waking at 4:30, then going back to sleep for a couple of hours then waking up hourly until the Alarm clock goes off... or I wake up and then my mind starts racing, and I'm basically laying in bed, stressing. Wheezie 08-27-05, 08:27 PM does anyone know where i can buy one of these??? eh-heh :) i'm one of those who has always had a really hard time waking up in the morning and i set 2 alarms, sometimes more, if i have something important to do the next day, like catch a flight.... my nephew wakes up at an unconsionably early hour ... no matter what time he goes to bed. i leave a pile of books by his sleeping bag when he does an overnight so i get to sleep until he's gone through the pile of books. it buys me an extra 30 minutes anyway.... Andrew 08-27-05, 08:36 PM lol...sad thing about these alarms is, they're so unreliable. When I HAVE to wake up that early, I usually sleep through it...so I too set alarms for it. auntchris 08-28-05, 01:18 AM I know what you all are talkign about. I have been a night owl since i was a teen. I will have to be on more of a schedule since i will be college soon, so I am hoping to that my body will get use to a new alarm clock. I have tried 400mg of magnesium to help me sleep and it works quite well for at least. Try reading or watching tv and then setting whatever you are down and turning everything off and just go to bed. Eventually, your body will follow thru. Get up and go to bed at the same everyday or close to it. I hope these suggestion help. Did_I_Say_that 08-28-05, 10:15 AM I am the same way, I wake up around 6:30.. If I have to get up at a different time, say earlier than normal, I will set 2 alarms. But I always wake up a minute or 2 before the alarms go off.. strange. Andi 08-28-05, 09:14 PM My time is 5:30. I don't care when I go to bed, I wake up around 5:30...it takes me awhile before I can fall back to sleep. It's rather nice to have this back since I spent about a year and a half on meds that I couldn't stay awake. Marmalade_man 09-11-05, 11:26 AM Mine is 4:00 am regardless if I go to sleep at 11:00 PM or 2:00 AM. The exception is if I go to bed at 7:00 PM. Then, I might wake at 11:00 pm. I have found that with Ritalin, I now sleep right through the night if I get to bed by 11:00 pm. I find I no longer wake up with my mind racing, basically stressing in bed. If I stay up past 11:00PM, the Ritalin does not help and I may be up ALL night. Best wishes, Vic BananaSlip 10-30-05, 01:41 AM Man, I wish I had that problem (having an internal clock). I've needed 12 hours of sleep to feel fully rested since I was a baby. Mom said that I went to bed at 7 pm and woke up at 7 am everyday as a baby, and I never took naps. It's impossible to do that now in the adult real word. Now, I'm lucky if I get 5 or 6 hours of sleep. I try to wake up a 5:30 every morning, but usually don't stir until the alarm's been blaring for at least an hour. Or I turn the alarm off and go right back to sleep. didine 11-22-05, 01:21 AM I always set my alarm clock just in case anyway, but I always wake up 2min before it sets off! in the last year, i have only been woken up once by alarm clock. and i can set it for 5am or 7am or 9am, i will always wake up two minutes before, regardless the time i went to bed! livinginchaos 11-22-05, 01:27 AM I do not have this internal alarm clock. I need this internal alarm clock SO badly!! how do I get one?!! :) didine 11-22-05, 01:55 AM the funny thing is that sometimes i am dreaming and an alarm goes off during my dream. i wake up to it and it is a couple of minute before my alarm in real life. that is sooo creepy, the brain is such an amazing thing! Andi 11-22-05, 06:11 AM I do not have this internal alarm clock. I need this internal alarm clock SO badly!! how do I get one?!! :) I can sell ya one for $39.95 plus shipping and handling but their is a no money back guarantee :p With the newest med I'm on. I'm lucky if I sleep 4 or 5 hours a night. I just LOVE it  livinginchaos 11-25-05, 10:04 PM I'll Take it!! qinkin 12-02-05, 04:53 PM With the newest med I'm on. I'm lucky if I sleep 4 or 5 hours a night. I just LOVE it :rolleyes:That's why meds must be a last resort. And why people need to try to understand what their problems are, then actually try to fix them b4 taking stimulants to make their.... If I could not sleep-I just couldn't stand living. Andrew 12-02-05, 07:28 PM Who says Andi is taking a stimulant med, or that she doesnt understand what her medical issues are? Rather presumptuous of you. qinkin 12-03-05, 05:35 PM ya, i dunno...I shouldn't have quoted anyone. Naomi2 01-26-06, 10:12 AM I've always really needed my sleep, but I often have so many thoughts that my brain just won't shut down. This seems to go in phases. Also, there is usually too much light - light pollution is terrible in Birmingham (UK) and, unless it's a cloudless night, which it rarely is, my bedroom is not dark enough because of the light from the city reflecting off the sky and into my room through the curtains. Sounds, too, are difficult to ignore. Then there's the problem of the feel of the bed. Whatever position I go in I cannot get comfortable. This is partly, I think, because I can't 'switch off' from the feel of the bed, the quilt and my pyjamas etc. (but I don't have sensory integration disorder), and partly because, due to my tic disorder (or maybe it's obsessive compulsive behaviour??), I find it hard to feel something on one side and not the other, so lying on my side is all uneven. I do have some 'alarm clock' properties too (when I've finally got to sleep). Once I put some batteries on charge in my room in the evening and I had to switch them off after so many hours but I couldn't set my alarm because it would have woken everyone in the house up. Instead, I 'told myself' to wake up at a certain time (I think it was around three or four in the morning) and I didn't think it would work, but it was worth a try - it was that or nothing. Anyway, I went to sleep and just a few minutes before the time, I woke up! I was amazed! In the mornings, too I often wake up around the right time, but I never know if that's because I've heard other people in the house move around or not. Anyhow, I never usually need the alarm (but set in just in case)! |
