I got my proficinsy test results in the mail and did good on all of them my worst was the reading one but i somehow ended up passing them all. But how come i can pass these tests but i cant pass the class in school? Does this mean something and is this normal. I didnt pass with flying colors but i did pass them so it doesnt make sense why i cant pass the class in school. Anybody know why this is?

hey stellato!

Congrats on the proficiency test results!

There are a few possible reasons why you did well on your proficiency tests and have difficulty with regular school tests.
The reasons you'll get after you answer these questions (in a post, or to yourself).

How did you feel going into the proficiency tests? Any different from a typical school test?
was your attitude different going into this test than typical school tests (meaning: did you go in to the proficiency tests with a positive attitude vs a negative attitude)?
how was your confidence level entering the proficiency tests vs typical school tests?

The answers to the above questions can be major players regarding your performances on tests. The differences between your answers will most likely highlight the reasons why you did better with the proficiency test :)

I get very nervous for my school tests because the grades determine if I stay in the program or not and if I can go for my certification or not. But, the more confident I am and have a good attitude better I perform on tests, even though I still get nervous. Everyone is different, though!

Congrats, again, stellato!

I don't know much about proficiency tests - i presume it's to see where you're at with schooling/studies?

Does anything come of the results of the tests? do you get a grade or anything because of the results?

For me, if nothing really comes of the results, I don't feel as much pressure to do well. Usually I do better in those circumstances.

I think there's a thread somewhere about test taking. I'll find it. BRB.

WOAH!!!
According to the post you linked to, AD/HD affects the "chalkboard" in your head, resulting in a lower ability to temporarily remember things. This explains just about every math test I have ever taken. I usually use much more scratch paper than anyone I know, simply because I suck at holding it all in my head. I instead write it all out as I am going (which my teachers love for some reason). It is also the same in Japanese. I can remember what all the words and "letters" mean, but trying to hold it all together while forming or decyphering a sentence always gets me. By the time I am on the third word I am forgetting what the first one was!
Once again: Woah....

Woah, I write a lot like that too, Charlie M! My teacher always laugh and say 'Geez Victoria, are you writing a book there?!' It's quite funny! :)

I despise standardized tests!!!!
