Why does it seem that my ADHD son cycles? He will have a great couple of weeks, and then........he turns into a crazy, non-listening, non-patient, angry, argumentitive, ect,ect little boy????? Ok, well these behavior never do really go away, but they are less enough that I can deal with them. I have an appointment with his psych on thursday because I am thinking that he has more issues going on than just the ADHD. Every morning he wakes up, and like clock work, he asks for cereal, he never says anything else, doesn't cuddle, nothing, just "I want cereal". Then as the day goes on, he continues to ask when his other meals are going to be, what time, and he will continue to ask about meals, and snacks until he is in bed. He twists his hair, ears, and shirts, his ears get broken blood vessels on them from it, and he ruins his shirts if he isn't reminded to stop doing it. He is sensitive to certain loud noises, will have a melt down if it is too loud too long. He is interested in not only time, but dates. He doesn't play with toys often, he doesn't get too interested in playing with other children. He thinks that everything is unfair, he doens't understand how to play any kind of games, they are all unfair, and he doesn't understand how to take turns. He asks the same questions over and over and over again. He has to have his bedtime blankets put on him in the same order everynight. He has very little realization of other people having feelings. He is more worried about the rules that other people have broken, rather than realizing the ones that he breaks. As a baby, he would cry often, he would go stiff if held too much, would arch his back to be put down, but would continue crying. He didn't startle at loud noises, had feeding problems, chronic ear infections. He walked at 12 months, and no more than babbled til the age of 2 1/2 which at that point spoke most of his words with an A added onto the back. I had him evaluated and they just said he was behind but that in time, he would improve. He did end up improving his speech. I don't know if anyone can help me, like I said, he does have his appointment on Thurday. I just need some advice, and maybe thoughts of how I can help him, and if anyone has any ideas on what he is showing signs of. I feel a little better just getting some of this out. Sorry for rambling.
