Just started taking Adderal, 20mg one time a day. Second year in college and really felt the effects of the Adderal the first couple days but it's been a week already and i doesnt seem anywhere as powerfull as those first two days. I really liked those 2 days of just starting on Adderall. I havn't been getting much sleep but from what i've been reading, that should clear up rather soon.

I was wondering what kind of effects i can expect if i decide to stay on this kind of a dose in the long term. This is also my second year in college so any advice would greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, OxgenThief!

I don't have any experience with Adderall XR - which is what I assume you're on since you only take it 1x a day.

I have been on Adderall IR for 6 years now and upped the dosage for the first time not too long ago. My focus is really good, not as distracted. When someone walks into the room, I look up, but I am able to re-focus on what ever it was I was doing. That's been the huge difference with me.

I was diagnosed and started Adderall IR just before my senior year of college. It helped me so much in school. I was able to study for shorter lengths of time and retain the majority of it without much work. I was able to listen to lectures without many distraction issues. It's been amazing the difference Adderall has made with my schooling.

Good luck!

Hi Oxgen!

I began taking meds my senior year in college, at age 22. I'm now 23 and in graduate school. Doing well and having a great time too!

I began taking Adderall XR 20 mg daily. Then added an extra 20 mg IR in the afternoons. Found the extra 20 mg too much for me- didn't like the way it "hit" me... kinda felt like a huge jolt, pounding heart, slightly dizzy, some headaches, insomnia, etc. Now I'm on XR 20 mg every morning and then an extra 10 mg IR in the afternoons if needed... though I hardly ever take it.

If you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to help you out!

YES!!!I have the same problem!!My doc told me that we will reach a level where it will level off and I wont have that dissapointing backslide.Im not so sure of it myself though.I have had it upped before, this time I didnt go back to square one though.Im just loosing some focus and drifting into dreamland again.I know what you mean about the first few days.I felt so confident!!!I want that back.I take a 20ml.in the morning and another 20 at two or so.Im still leaps and bounds better than ever!!

The initial "speedy" feeling that stimulants give does wear off - totally normal. The positive effects from the stimulants won't, for the most part. Many people find that when they first start taking meds they need more after the first week or two - the dosage that helped them at first no longer does. This too is not unusual and doesn't indicate tolerance. It's more like a "bump" in the road. Further increases are not usually necessary - I've been at the same dosage for more than a year without problem - after the initial "bump" that I had too.

Because i'm a college kid and slept in till 1:30 in the afternoon, and i didnt take my Adderal daily pill. Do you guys think i should have taken it or do you think i was better of not taking it b/c it would keep me up all night.

PS. It's been like 2 weeks now and i was up at 2Am and i knew i was tired but i couldn't fall sleep. I worked out today so i think ill get some sleep but how long did not sleeping at all last for the rest of you people?

You would be safe taking it even at 1:30, but you could always take a half if you're worried. Or take it with orange juice. Citric acid is supposed to reduce the effects of stimuants like adderall.

If you're tired, but can't sleep try history or political science text. And if that doesn't work take two Tylenol PMs and in two hours or less you'll be gone. But you know that spot on the bottle where it says "Don't take unless you can ensure 8 hours?" They aren't joking! If you have to get up in 4 hours you'll be a useless zombie all day.

are you sure about that? from personal experience, adderall is so strong of a stimulant that even a combination of depressants like alcohol and others won't affect me much when im still on the adderall.
