Help!
I just started Cymbalta two weeks ago (it's structurally similar to Prozac, but is an SNRI like Effexor). So far it has helped my depression but not my ADD.
Now my breasts are sore and swollen, and my period is a day late. It's too late to go out to the store for an EPT, and I'm out of my mind with worry.
On the web there are reports of some psych-meds causing these symptoms. Please post if you have experienced anything like this with your meds.
Thanks,
Abby:eek:

I'm getting ready to move & all of my Nuirsing Drug Reference books are packed up or I would look it up for you. I've had 6 kids & 1 miscarriage..I'm almost 52...so I remember when you had to wait at least 2-3 weeks after you missed a period to even have any test done that might tell you. But, for me personally, I just "always knew" & it wasn't because they were all "planned"
Your symptoms could also be because you are just about to start. Also if you do get an EPT, be sure & check & see if your meds can cause a "false positive" or "false negative."
Please let us know what you find out. Sorry I could't be of more help.

:D I took an EPT today, and it said 'negative.':D
Blessed Lady, thanks for your post, I will keep in mind that I will have to re-test in a week or two if my period does not arrive. I used First Response brand, though, which Consumer Reports says is accurate for someone with my timing, and for now has set my mind at ease, so I won't obsess all week about it.:D
Interestingly, though, my frantic research last night uncovered some interesting stuff. Cymbalta has none of this on their data sheets, but Effexor and Prozac both have some test data out there, about irregular periods, and breast enlargement (in both women and men!). Some women stop menstruating for long periods on some psych meds. Unfortunately, the women that got bigger boobs also got bigger booties (weight gain), so I am not thrilled about that -- but if I'm not pregnant, Life is Good! !:D :D :D
