View Full Version : first day back
b-baller#15 08-24-05, 02:48 PM wow today was my first day back to school and i forgot how much i hated it. it didnt go well at all. our school has block scheduling so we have 4 classes a day an hour and a half each and we start at 7:15.
i have the same teacher in the same room for 1st and 2nd block so thats 3 straight hours in the same environment. that wasnt fun at all i was going crazy.
then i go to spanish and that just doesnt seem like its going to work. i couldnt understand anything going on the whole class. i have a hard time passing english so now i have to pass spanish but right now i think my english grade will be way better then my spanish one.
then i go to science for my last class and that doesnt look good either. my medicine is wearing off by then and i wasnt paying attention at all and i kept getting in trouble with my friends.
then to top it all off i was headed outside for the bus when the day was over and i ended up getting a detention for something i did in the hallway.
not a good start and it doesnt look like its going to get any better.
Yesterday was my first day of school and I dont like it :(
livinginchaos 08-24-05, 11:45 PM was today any better, stellato? Maybe the blocks will take a bit of time to get used to. The cool thing about blocks is you have less classes, therefore less things to have to remember!!!
Are your teachers fairly accomodating?
How was school today, Gil!?
are you guys meeting a lot of new people?
jlscott252 08-25-05, 07:39 AM I hope that today, is a better day for you. Good luck with your schooling!
b-baller#15 08-27-05, 02:20 PM well it got a little better on thursday and friday but im glad that its the weekend. it was a long first 3 days. hopefully it will keep getting better. but things didnt start very good because i forgot to do my homework on thursday so friday wasnt very good.
It's my first day today, in like one hour. The first two days there are no classes though so nothing to really worry about until Wednesday.
It will be my first day back tomorrow! However, I am on the other side of the coin. I get to take some really cool classes... :D
Woops - didn't realize what thread this was.. delete delete! ARG!

School went fine today, and had a fun time afterwards going out to lunch and doing stuff with friends (first day's a half-day).
We only got one thing to do for tomorrow, that's to get our class schedule approved by our parents. So at 10 tonight my dad (who is like the high school principal) comes in my room and asks "are you ever gonna give me that schedule to sign?" and when he's sure that I forgot he gets all mad "how can you FORGET its the ONLY THING YOU HAD TO DO TODAY"
I tried to explain, if there was homework then I'd know I have to check my homework planner for whatever I have to do today but since there was none since tomorrow isn't a real school day either, I didn't think to check my backpack. And that it wouldn't have mattered if I had written it down to remind myself, because there was no need to open my backpack that I could think of.
But he doesn't offer any suggestions except "you need to learn how to remember". Yeah thanks just hand over a new brain and I'd be HAPPY to
First day of school and already my parents think I'm gonna fail:mad::mad::mad:
livinginchaos 08-29-05, 09:21 PM Remembering things is difficult for me too, Binro.
My dad hates it when I do this, but when I really need to remember something I write it on my hand. I can't lose it, if it rubs off I can write it back on. It's right there for me to see.
How do you think you'll do this school year, Binro? I've learned a lot about schooling this summer when I took a summer class. If I think I'll fail, I usually don't do so hot. If I go into it with an positive frame of mind, I usually do pretty well!
Have you ever talked with your parents that you think that they think you'll fail? and how it affects you? If you haven't you might want to do that, it might just help them work with you better. Maybe they don't realize what they're doing and/or don't know how to help you.
Communication between parents and teens is hard, but well worth it.
Best wishes, Binro!
How is school going for everyone else?
Nucking_Futs 08-30-05, 06:47 AM Well, I think I'm gonna fail. lol
Man, I don't know what I got myself into. Math is easy so I've been able to work at a faster pace then I had originally thought and will be done with the class before the end of September which gives me half of September, all of October and NOvember for Anatomy and Physiology which I am going to need in the worst way.
I have to remind myself to think I can or else I tend to fail myself without a fight.
I think I can
I think I can

livinginchaos 08-30-05, 03:48 PM Cherity - you are going to kick some tail!
I had to take Anat and Phys of speech systems in school, it was difficult.
What helped me were anatomy and systems posters
you can find them (to buy) here:

Ichpuchtli 08-30-05, 05:44 PM School for me has improved but I have a health and nutrian teacher who picks on me and every notices that, I am already down to a D in behaviour, any way I am almost through 3rd term in school.
For the guy who started this, I had the same sort of problem but not with the detention, all my classes except for a few were in German, so now I basicly know the language just some grammer problems, anyway all you got to do, even if sounds bad it workes for me, I chose what classes I would do well at and it all seemed to work out for the best, the marks arn't good for art but english and all seems really good wih B's A's.
I will soon finish the school year and it is about time. :)

VAthens 09-04-05, 11:51 AM My daughter is a junior in high school and is starting the year off so bad. She is allready missing assignments and is lying about it. Her teacher wrote me to say that she is missing all these assignments allready and wants to know what to do? I dont know what to do anymore. She doesnt write things down so we can check it. She lies and says she is caught up on everything. I don't think she cares at all. I purchased her a special ADD assignment notebook and tapes to listen to and organized her before school began. The only thing left is to go to school for her and write things down for her and do the homework for her, not! I can't understand what she is thinking. She just looks at me with a blank stare and insists that she is doing all she can with an attitude. What can I do? I'm at my witts end!!!!
I did that a lot last year, and also especially in 10th grade. There were times when I seriously believed I was doing all I could, and yet things wouldn't get done. If my parents would watch me, they would see that I'm actually wasting half my time, but to me it feels necessary, I feel like I can't work for more than 15 minutes without taking an hour break.
Of course, I can actually work better than that, but I just feel like I can't. People's limits are always further than they will push themselves. Your daughter probably never work as efficiently as you want, but she can also do better than it sounds like she's doing now.
Unfortunately I don't know what specifically you can do, because in my case the times I work hard are just when I am personally motivated. I have big plans for my future, and every once in a while I remember that and spend a night trying to catch up on my work (tonight for example). Anything my parents try to do usually doesn't help at all, and in fact makes me work slower, because I truly CANNOT get anything done if anyone is watching me. So I'll leave advice for what you can do up to the adults here.
livinginchaos 09-04-05, 03:58 PM VAthens -
is your daughter on meds? That's what has helped me the most with school.
If you haven't checked it out - there's a parents of kids with ADHD section.

They might have some ideas for you as well.
Thanks for sharing, binro! I am the same way. I am inattentive ADHD, but I'm also self-motivating (for the most part). I wasn't diagnosed and didn't have too hard of a time until college, though.
