Now that she is on this medication, I am wondering if there be any different effects during her menstrual cycle, since hormones effect our behavior (ladies you know what I mean;) ) Can anyone enlighten me on this subject?

You see, I have boys taking Concerta.

By the way Concerta is a brilliant medication and i hope that my Doc' puts me on them instead of the Atomoxetine, that i'm on at the moment, as i've seen the huge difference in my sons behavior!

I Take Concerta, and I don't see any difference whats so ever in my period. Although I am much older (32) than your girl is! :)

My Son (11 yrs) also takes it, same dosage as me (18 mg) and has not had any problems with it except for some weight loss, sorry can't help with the menstral part, from his point of view! :p

As far as reading goes, my Son still has problems with his reading comprehension, the concerta will help with the attentive-ness that may be impeding your daughters reading, so who knows it may help. It just really depend's on where she needs help with her reading, and how much. Or whats effecting her reading, which may be her attention span. Hate to say it, but she may need more than a stimulant can offer for help in the reading dept. Anyways good luck!! :)

Thanks for the input. My daughter has been in a LD school for two years now. What the district was offering did not meet her needs. She has had the work with Reading specialist, but I think due to her ADD she is not retaining valuable information that will make her decoding of words smoother. This is why I finally decided to try medication. Hopefully, I will achieve the success has many have.

Well, that my menstrual cycle effects my mood. I hava not tolerance or patience the week before and during I am very moody. Since she is very hyper to begin with, I am wondering if the mood changes that hormones do to some women during their menstrual cycle might make her more hyper, or if there is any different effects because she is taking Concerta.

Concerta has the same active chemical as ritalin it is released like totaly different. My two daughters were both on the methaphenadate (generic name for active ingreadents) when they went throug puberity. I feel like the medications helped the mood changes that accompany "that time". They still got moody which made the medication seem less effective but when they took a medication break "during that time" THEN the medications effectiveness was way noticible.

Neither of my daughters who are now 18 have "female problems" assoicated with thier ADD medications. If you are in doubt have NO HESTATION in asking her doctor or pharmist!!!!!!!!!
