It's official....... I had an appointment with a licensed adhd tester counselour last wednesday and I have adult adhd. I took the IVA test on the computer and she got a history and the test showed extreme impairment in verbal and visual areas. And she said I was very hyperactive apparently and on the test, my hyperactivity measured out to an extreme level. Im seeing my psychiatrist this coming Monday and he's going to put me on a stimulant. Judy (the counselour) strongly recommended it. I feel relieved but at the same time have my black hole adhd depression along with my adhd especially at night when I reflect on my day. I have no support as of now and I feel alone. Although I did talk to a CHADD rep in my county and though they only have a parents of adhd/add group but she knows some adult adhdrs in the area and is thinking of pulling together a group for us addults. It was a relief to be able to get to the college computer lab today after work since it closed at 4pm in the summer and i could never get down here since I work til 4pm. Now, the college started and its back to its later hours. :) Relief!!!!! It is in sight in all areas!!!!!:D Finally!!!:) Katie

Hey Scatterbrainz,
I am right in the middle of the diagnostic process myself. I am aware that regardless of the assessment there will most likely be some bittersweet feelings accompanying my diagnosis.
I am from Wisconsin also, so there isn't much by way of CHADD in my woods of the neck, either.
If you don't own "You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid Or Crazy?!" by Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo, I would definitely recommend that book. I think I once heard that it is considered the "Big book" of the CHADD world. It is definitely worth checking out, as the writers have A.D.D., so there are some very amusing and relatable anecdotes in the book, beyond the wealth of information that the
book provides on pretty much every aspect of A.D.D.
Good luck to you!

Happy that you got some answers. I hope you can also find the support you need --- starting meds is a great thing and a big adjustment. A lot of mixed feelings can come up. Here's to better times ahead!:)

I deliberately jumbled "Neck of the woods" as "Woods of the neck," is that Wisconsintie? Maybe pudgy fingers, but I suspect something much more ambiguous?!
