Today I took my normal dose, however around 2:00PM which was seven hours after I took my dose I felt this weird sensation in my upper left chest area. I don't think it was my heart. Your heart is near the center of your chest, correct?

This place was more along the top left of my chest area. Could this be my heart? I felt my heart beat and it was fine. What could it have been?

I'm not a doctor, so there's a disclaimer:

I would ask your pharmacist about this (doctor's rarely know anything about the drugs except what they do...). I have a similar sensation sometimes when I take a dose given certain conditions. I am under the impression that it is because of the strong stimulant effect of the drug. The sensation, for me, is more of a constricting sensation than anything else, and normally right above my solar plexus. I can't tell you the mechanism of action, though, so I can't really say anything for certain.

Again, I recommend asking your pharmacist.

You did not mention what your normal dose was, or whether you are taking regular Adderall or XR. If you are taking regular Adderall, I would tend to think that the pain was not related to the Adderall, as it should have worn off at that point, whereas XR might still be in your system.

One thing that is important to remember is that "chest pain" can be caused by all kinds of things that are not necessarily serious. For instance, not long after I started taking Adderall, I felt a pain in my chest and was very worried. But then I realized that I had just eaten on campus for the first time in months, and remembered why I had not eaten there for several months. It turned out to just be heartburn, which was confirmed a half-hour later by my lower GI-tract.

That being said, you should definitely speak with your doctor about it, as any chest pains while taking a stimulant should be checked. This is especially true if you have or may have an underlying cardiovascular condition. However, in an otherwise healthy adult, most normal doses of Adderall should not cause any serious danger in that respect, at least no more so than coffee.
