Mine has 20 gigs of memory which is nine straight days of music. I have always collected music and now, finally, I had the chance to put a large part of my collection in one accessible spot. I have heard some of this music for the first time. There are also podcasts....I get to here new stuff all the time. I use it to focus me through house hold tasks and at work. I do work and my brain focuses on the "oral stimulant". This is good because normally my mind physiclaly pulls me to another task or pleasure. It's great for who I am.

I have a 40gb external HDD with MP3 music that I take to work. I listen to music or white noise to help me focus. It works very well depending on the type of music, however it becomes useless if it needs to become overbearing -- in the cases of having to cancel out other extreme noises.

OOooooooo...

I love listening to Music, but i rarely get the chance to do so, but...
I'm contemplating buying an ipod, so i can listen to music on the move, when doing the shopping, waiting in queues at the Supermarket and on the many bus journeys i make, to the many different appointments i need to attend!

I like varied music, from classical, which i don't actually possess, other than the downloads a friend on MSN has given me.

The Songs i like, rarely get played on the Radio.... anything from Phil Collins... Simon and Garfunkel and the Proclaimers*reminds myself* to buy 'The Best Of the Proclaimers'.

I also enjoy listening to the news on the Radio...
Is there an ipod with a radio?... Or do i need to buy an MP3 Player, with radio, to have that option?

Music is a great medicine for many situations and Emotions... And because i'm more on the side of a Hyper ADDer, the music i like to listen to, is calming.

I've been wanting a MP3 player for a while. Unfortunately I can't bring myself to purchase something as mainstream as an Ipod. I do need music constantly playing, because it's always better than the crap songs I get stuck in my head. Songs I can't skip, stop or delete.

Well then, buy an alternative mp3 player. lol It's not the medium, it's the message.

Marshall McLuhan would probably shoot you. You know the guy..."The medium is the message"..which he later changed to "the medium is the massage"

I picked up an MP3 player a few years back. (Not an Ipod...nope...no way!). I love it! I have about 4 hours worth of music and the AAA batteries will run about 8 hours at a time. I change the playlist about once every 6 months, some songs stay, others leave.

I would love to have 40G's...even 20G's would be fine. I could put most of my CD collection on MP3's...

Speaking of MP3's...they now have car stereos that play music DVD's. How cool is that?? Burn your MP3's onto a DVD (gobs of space!) and never have to switch CD's again! You can shuffle and build playlists as well. I can't remember who makes it but saw it at Circuit City this week!

As long as the DVDs play music and not movies the last thing a bunch of distractible people need while driving is movies.

I personally can not afford all these new gadgets waiting for prices to go down..have they gone down yet???? Doesn't an ipod cost a couple of hundres of dollars???? Battereis have fast do these things go through batteries?????

Does it help ADD...focus. The large memory size would help keep a variety on hand..are these thing user friendly easy to learn how to use?????

They have come down in price. I simply put it own when I do chores around the house. Good too is podcasting. Weekly radio shows can be automatically downloaded onto your mp3 player. My current fav is Science Friday from PBS. I get three new 20-30 minute shows a week from that show alone.

AMEN TO THAT!!

We rented a car with a DVD player in it last November. I didn't get to watch but I "heard" Shrek 2 twice!! Drove me nuts not knowing what was going on.
