View Full Version : Analogies

I used to have somewhat of a fetish for analogies. Prior to ever having heard of ADD I used them to describe my behaviors and how I felt.

1. I felt like a race car stuck in gear.

2. I was on one side of a bridge where I wanted to be was on the other side but I couldn't cross it.

3. The fingers of an outstretched hand signified positive traits. Making a fist was "getting it together". I couldn't make a fist.

4. Procrastination: The little dutch boy who saw a hole in the dyke protecting his town from the sea. He plugged it with his finger preventing it from getting bigger until help could arrive, thus saving his town.

If I were that dutch boy I would stare at the hole and think to myself "man I should go plug that hole". But I wouldn't until the sea came crashing through.

5. For ideas and things I wanted to do: It was like putting a note on the refrigerator with a magnet. But it just wouldn't stick. It would slide down out of view and out of mind.

Mike, I made an analogy between a computer and a bag of broken potato chips just yesterday.
I have a problem communicating that way, but I am a very interesting person:D

Just think of all those folks who work at banks and have standards like "at the end of the day" and "lets circle our wagons." How ordinary....somehow I think...hmmm... Do you think someone with ADD started the trend? Could be.

You have ADD and you make great threads...perfectly understandable. It's kind of like a bunch of bananas. The ones with the brown spots are sweeter and have more texture.....they make really great banana fritters...but they are passed up because the consumer can't see through the peelings. Sure am glad we have freckles. ;)

Here is mine:

- I feel like I started watching a movie in the middle and by the time I think I figured out what's going on, it's already over.
