Where online can I locate low-cost or no-cost testing for an adult in the city of Farifax Virginia, to determine whether or not that adult has Asperger's Syndrome or not?
This adult would probably not qualify for public assistance. This adult is unemployed, broke, can't afford to travel far from city of Fairfax, and has no insurance whatsoever.

As far as I know there is NO free testing/evaluation. My experience has been that there is little to no support for adults in the autism spectrum.
My guess is that this is a high functioning individual in crisis ?
Let me know how this works out. I am in the MD area.
There are some free online tests, but they are very general in their usefulness.
I do not recommend them for diagnosis, nor do I recommend self-diagnosis.
If your friend is high functioning he/she might find this useful... but this is NOT a substitute for the evaluation of a professional...

To the best of my knowledge, the only test for Asperger's (for ages 5-21..I think) that's actually normed on (developed) Aspergers' children is the GADS (Gilliam Asperger's Scale) .
It should be administered by a licensed psychologist. There's certainly more to it than just that, however, it is the first test of its kind.
There's a lot that goes into a diagnosis like that but it is good to finally have a valid instrument to include in the diagnostic assessment.
Personally, I've ssen the Autistic Spectrum increasingly broadened over the years to the point where I (personally) think it's stretched too far.
I wish you luck in finding what you're looking for.
take care

It seems very unfair that there is no help for unemployed people to get assessed-
if they are right and they wouldn't qualify for it,it isn't like assessment is a luxury-it's not government money the person can spend on cigarettes, beer etc,
makes me glad to have access to the NHS here.
On the subject on who the topic is referring to,it could be Bearcat he is referring to as opposed to a relative, friend exetera,as it is common for autistics to refer to themself in "the third person" (I think it's called),correct me if I am wrong about this Bearcat and you are getting help for someone else.
As far as I have seen, adults with ASD are essentially not on the map for mental health care. It would seem that if one is in the spectrum you are either high functioning with a job, or in big trouble. It really frightens me.
